The Herald reports conductors on a post-Mac Miller commmuter-rail train pleaded with cops in Winchester for help with the punch-throwing rebels without a cause, but none would board the train in the 45 minutes until Transit Police could arrive, demanding to know why the train crew hadn't asked for help in Somerville or Medford.

Lori Magno got to Wedgemere station this morning to see a sign (taped to a trash can) telling riders that track work meant they need to board the inbound train on the outbound track.

Guess which track the train came on?

... When the conductor stepped off I asked him what he knew about the sign and he just shook his head (trying not to chuckle) and suggested I speak to customer service at North Station. Feeling up for a challenge, I did stop by customer service and spoke to a nice young woman who asked me to forward the photograph so she could send it to her supervisor. I left my business card too in case they want to respond.

Figures. Those disintegrating, cracked Northeast Corridor ties will affect some MBTA commuters out of South Station. The Globe reports the rail lines between Back Bay and Readville will be shut June 14 through 17 to allow for replacement of the ties there. That means buses for commuters on the Attleboro/Providence, Franklin, Needham and Stoughton lines (dear Globe: What about the Fairmount Line?).
