Mr. Gobbles
Bang the drumstick slowly
You better go get a box of Kleenex before you hit the Play button on Ernie Sarro's long goodbye to Kendall Square's Mr. Gobbles (Via David Harris). The one consolation is that Mr. Gobbles hasn't yet gone to that Great Platter in the Sky - only to Dedham.

Good gravy: Kendall Square loses winged icon
The Cambridge Chronicle reports that Mr. Gobbles has been moved to Dedham after being hit by a car last month.
Mr. Gobbles had preened and pecked on the grounds of the Volpe Transportation Center since 2003. Unlike his man-eating cousins in Brookline, Mr. Gobbles never bothered anybody. Today, he has the run of the Animal Rescue League's 27-acre refuge in wildest Dedham.

Where is downtown Brookline?
Apparently following up on a Daily Free Press report, the Globe today discusses the issue of turkeys in "downtown Brookline" (the Free Press used the same phrase). Is that anything like Boston Village? Also, memo to Globe editors: Turkeys have been in Brookline for awhile now.
But bonus points for detailing a savage attack by one of the Beacon Street brutes on a poor woman from Dorchester - Should Boston start warning residents about travel to Brookline?
Bonus turkey report:
Mr. Gobbles is alive and well in Kendall Square.

If anyone can take pictures of turkeys, then the terrorists have won
Sushiesque reports a security guard at the federal Volpe transportation building ordered her to delete a photo she'd just taken of Mr. Gobbles, the wild turkey that hangs around there.
The photos they don't want you to see (by somebody else).
