On Dan Shaughnessy Watch, Jenny marvels at the suddenly once-a-day CHB, dissects his writing and gets very disturbed at a passage that describes how Terry Francona started coughing up blood during a post-game press conference:

He then proceeds to state how wonderfully Ramirez has played the rest of the year, but announces we need to be suspicious because Ramirez won't talk to the media. Ever wonder why he won't talk to you, Mr. CHB?
Sean Holland makes the case the problem with the Sox is not the players but a general manager dooming the team to second place because he is no longer able to make good personnel decisions:

First, let's all breathe a collective sigh of relief that David Ortiz is "a healthy son of a bitch" who was suffering from no more than dehydration and stress last weekend (update: Or maybe not). We know that from reading Dan Shaughnessy's column today. The one in which Shank admits he's completely out of the loop:
Last night I decided to pull myself out of the funk caused by the Sox forgetting how to play ball. So we went out, to The Top of the Hub. A place where baseball does not exist.
And they won.
So, do I stay up and watch tonight, and hope they win again? Or do I find someplace else to hide tonight? Some place where my boys are far from my thoughts. Where by not paying attention to them, they could be convinced to win?
And 'they' say, the players are idiots.

Women Outdoors is coming (back!) to the Greater Boston Region

Carpundit relays the possible news that David Ortiz was briefly hospitalized at Mass. General this past weekend (yes, during the Yankee series) for an abnormal heart rate. Big caveats on the story, of course, but he has his source.
