Complaining to the Mayor's Hotline gets results. Roving UHub photographer Sean Connor forwarded this photo today of the excessively hot manhole covers on Harrison Avenue, a day after somebody complained one had burned his or her pet's paws.

A concerned citizen with a newly wounded pet reports on a manhole cover on the sidewalk on Harrison just outbound from E. Brookline:

Water and steam boiling out and cover is HOT. Burned dogs paws.

Boston Police report Warren Tyler took advantage of a motorist leaving his car running at a gas station to steal the car, then go on a short joy ride that killed one man and sent Tyler and a truck driver in the hospital last night.

Jason Laramie, who took the photo around 9:47 this morning, reports the two have been facing off like that for 10 minutes, blocking traffic (including him) all the way back to Mass. Ave.
