NECN reports the MBTA is going to use the Mattapan Line as a guinea pig for a collision-avoidance system that uses radio waves to detect other trolleys and begins to beep insistently if the trolley operator gets too close. If it works, the system could be deployed on the Green Line.

When her trolley at Ashmont yesterday pulled up lame and then the dispatchers wouldn't let the next trolley roll into the station for some time, Cowbark refused to grumble and foot-stomp like everybody else:

Mattapan Line finally gets air conditioning - today

This just in from the T: The first ever air-conditioned Mattapan trolley rolls out of Ashmont station at 2 p.m. today. The other nine trolleys on the cutest transit line in all of Massachusetts will be retro-fitted with A/C by the end of the summer.

Thunderstorm drives tree branch through trolley window, injuring 3

That big thunderstorm this morning pushed a tree branch through the windshield of a Mattapan trolley, injuring the driver and two passengers.
