Bob Sprague of Arlington reports GateHouse has found a new way to make money: Have people sign up for 52-weeks subscriptions to its newspapers, then tell them, oopsies, we're ending your subscriptions several months early, so send us more money.

NBC Boston reports an antenna issue has made it harder for people who watch it via their own antennas - along with that of some other Boston TV stations. It provides some tips on rescanning your tuner on how to get its alternate signal, if you're lucky enough to be close enough to its antenna, which is pumping out the station at a lower power.

USA Today reports the owner of GateHouse Media, which owns many of the Boston area's newspapers, will buy Gannett, then rename GateHouse as Gannett.

Meanwhile, the Boston Business Journal reports newsroom and many business-side employees at the Globe will stage a brief walkout tomorrow to protest the way contract talks are going.

Wally Brine retired in 2016. The two went on air as a morning team in Boston in 1981.

The Supreme Judicial Court today ordered a lower-court judge to reconsider her ruling that the state can refuse to give the Boston Globe copies of databases of birth and marriage records that are available as public records to anyone willing to pay $9 an hour to sit at a terminal in a state office on Columbia Point. Dan Kennedy gets the scoop that GateHouse plans to consolidate a bunch of its smaller weekly newspapers into larger "regional" papers. Among the papers set to disappear: What's left of the West Roxbury/Roslindale Transcript and the Allston/Brighton Tab, which will become a newspaper called the Transcript-Tab. Read more.
