Update: Board rules all of the bars did what they could and should have and have taken steps to try to keep it from happening again, so no violations.

A Mattapan man was arraigned yesterday on charges of cocaine trafficking and disturbing a correctional institution after he was allegedly caught with more than 18 grams of the white powder - some found "on his person" during a strip search - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The Karaage ($12) is Japanese-style fried chicken with a spicy garlic soy sauce. ... First, this dish was ample, with plenty of pieces of fried chicken, and was large enough to share. Second, the fried coating was crunchy and flavorful, enhanced by the spicy garlic soy. There was plenty of moist chicken inside the crisp coating, and the dish definitely is near the top of my favorite karaage dishes.

State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz today called on City Hall to halt all overnight construction work at the Bulfinch Crossing/Government Center Garage project until developer HYM, the city and the T can figure out a way to allow construction of the office skyscraper part of the project while also letting his constituents get some sleep. Transit Police have released photos of a guy with a big dog - and his own glasses - they say attacked a person over 60 on an Orange Line platform at North Station and then stole his victim's eyeglasses, around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 18.

The BPDA board yesterday approved a $2-billion project by Massachusetts General Hospital to replace several current buildings with a new two-wing structure that will add 1 million square feet of clinical and patient-bed space - and leave room for a possible expansion of the Charles/MGH station should the state ever extend the Blue Line down Cambridge Street. A group of ten citizens - six of whom live in the same West End building - last week sued the Boston Landmarks Commission as part of a bid to save three buildings left over from the destruction of the West End that Mass. General wants to raze so it can build a 14-story clinical center along Cambridge Street. Read more.

Massachusetts General Hospital yesterday filed its latest plans for replacing several current buildings and a parking lot with a new two-wing building with 1 million square feet of new clinical space and patient rooms that could be more easily converted into ICU use in another pandemic - and which would include space for a headhouse, or entrance, for a possible Red/Blue Line station.
