And the next thing they'll tell us is they've found a moose on Western Avenue
By adamg - 11/16/11 - 3:55 pmThe Animal Rescue League reports it responded to a call for a squirrel stuck in a tree on Lincoln Street in Allston today, only to find:
The squirrel stuck in a tree was not stuck. It was also, much to our surprise, a flying squirrel.
However, based on the photo, it does appear to have lost its aviator's cap and googles.

By adamg - 7/20/11 - 2:30 pmWicked Local Allston/Brighton reports a Brighton man thought he'd do a dying squirrel a favor and give him "a dignified death" by putting him in a tree. The squirrel's last act was to bite the man.
Ed. note: This story proves the old adage: When dog bites man, that's not news, but when dying squirrel bites man, now that's a story. Especially when, as Wicked Local notes, the man is unmarried.

A nutty update to Charlie on the MTA
By adamg - 9/21/10 - 3:30 pmOne passenger on the Blue Line in Orient Heights seemed a bit squirrelly this afternoon. In fact, the Animal Rescue League of Boston had to be called in.
ARL volunteer Margaret Wirth reports T workers found a baby squirrel running around a Blue Line car around noon. Boston Animal Control worked with the league to corral the critter, whom they promptly named Charlie, of course.
Wirth says Charlie is headed to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Weymouth, where he will be prepared for a life in the wild. She adds that kindhearted T inspectors did not charge him with fare evasion.
