Bargain wings? New eatery to join the gazillion bargain outlets on ALH.

Time was, KFC had the entire stretch of the Roslindale road from Walk Hill to Cummins Highway all to itself. Then Popeyes moved in diagonally across the way. Now Riaz Ali Shah is proposing to open a place called NYC Pizza and Chicken more directly across from the KFC. He goes before the licensing board on April 21 for permission to serve food.

UPDATE: One commenter says it'll be in the strip mall on American Legion Highway, the one by all the flower places and across from the KFC, not the one with the Stop & Shop.

Turns out that a couple months ago, the fried-chicken chain posted a Monster.com ad that started:

Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits with over 1600 restaurants nationwide is looking for experienced management for its newest restaurant opening in Roslindale ...

Then, earlier today, Toyuwa Newton tweeted:

Can someone tell me why my people are so excited about a Popeye's fried chicken joint opening up in Roslindale?

Anybody know where? The new old Stop & Shop mall on American Legion?

How many fried-chicken joints named after other cities does one neighborhood need?

If the neighborhood is Hyde Park, the answer is two. Both are on River Street; the New York one is in Cleary Square; the New Orleans version just outside Logan Square.
