West Roxbury developer Peter Davos has filed a letter of intent with the BRA to build 84 residential units in a four-story building at 1235 VFW Parkway, the one-time home of an IHOP that over the past couple of decades has served as a parking lot and the site of a sign advertising stump removal. The meeting was not quite as boisterous as past sessions. But at the one hearing the BRA was required to hold, residents of Lagrange Street and nearby side streets told landlord Michael Argiros they still can't stomach his proposal for apartments on Lagrange just off Centre because it's too big. The BRA board this week approved a plan by the developers of a proposed 13-story residential building at 105A South Huntington Ave. to build 36 units of affordable housing someplace else in the area, rather than including them in the project, which will rise from 5 floors on the Jamaicaway side to 13 on South Huntington. The BRA yesterday approved plans to turn a lot that has been vacant for four decades into 40 units of housing - and a "peace park" with walkways in the shape of a peace symbol at Blue Hill Avenue and Quincy Street. Read more.

The BRA board last night approved a refinancing plan for the Crosstown Center Hampton Inn on Mass. Ave. in which holders of the project's debt will simply write off a good chunk of the money it owes them. Read more.

The BRA board had been scheduled to vote on a proposed 17-unit condos building at Weld and Centre streets tomorrow, but has postponed the vote to let the developer answer neighborhood concerns about its overall size and height. Read more.

Shorenstein Properties of San Francisco, which owns Center Plaza, has filed plans with the BRA for renovations to the building between City Hall Plaza and the courthouses of Pemberton Square and to add roughly 30,000 square feet of new office and retail space. Read more.

NorthEndWaterfront.com reports the North End/Waterfront Residents Association has voted to oppose the BRA's effort to give itself 10 more years of "urban renewal" powers in the neighborhood - which include eminent domain and special taxing programs - even if the BRA says "urban renewal" for the 21st century really means adding "vibrancy" to areas such as the North End.

In the second judicial defeat for the BRA in a week involving waterfront land, the Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today the developer of an apartment complex in Charlestown has to comply with a state order to set aside most of its ground floor for "public accommodation" uses under state waterfront regulations.Read more.

Proposed Children's Hospital bridge

Children's Hospital says a pedestrian bridge over Longwood Avenue would not only help "physically challenged patients and families with young children" avoid the cold, rain and Boston drivers, it would improve traffic on the narrow, crowded street. Read more.

Long Wharf shelter in Boston

A shelter it was, a shelter it will stay, judge rules.

A federal judge ruled yesterday the BRA cannot lease the pavilion at the end of Long Wharf to a restaurant because its very own documents show the shelter was always intended to be part of a public park, not a structure available for a commercial lease.

The ruling by US District Court Judge Patti Saris, in what she called "the Long War for Long Wharf," is a victory for a group of North End residents who have been battling with the BRA over the pavilion for years. Read more.

Proposed residential development in Orient Heights

An auto-repair garage and an old apartment building at 1181 Bennington St. would be torn down and replaced by 44 two-bedroom residential units under a proposal now before the BRA. Read more.

The BRA board today approved Ashkenazy Acquisition's general "vision plan" for how to turn Faneuil Hall Marketplace into a destination that attracts not only rich tourists but local residents and visitors of more moderate means - in part by making the historic buildings at the core of the marketplace as much a part of visitors' experience as the stores and food. 45 West 3 St. in South Boston

The BRA today approved a 105-condo building at 45 W. 3 Street, proposed by Spaulding and Slye.

The project will have 109 underground parking spaces. The company originally proposed apartments, but opposition from neighbors convinced them to change them to condos.

The BRA today approved a 492-unit apartment and condo project at Clippership Wharf in East Boston - some 25 years after the first proposal for the long vacant 12-acre parcel. Read more.

Proposed Cleveland Circle project

The BRA today approved a revised plan to tear down the old Cleveland Circle Cinema and Applebee's and turn it into a hotel and a 92-unit senior-citizen apartment building.

National Development will kick in $600,000 to redesign the Cleveland Circle intersection, which will include a system to synchronize trolley movement with the lights to speed up dispatching of trolleys.

Some 12 of the apartments would be marketed as affordable, for people making no more than 70% of the area's median income.

Proposed Marriott Moxie hotel in Theater District

The BRA board today approved a plan for a 23-story "microhotel" at the corner of Tremont and Stuart streets that will have 346 rooms of just 175 square feet apiece.

The proposed Marriott Moxy Hotel will rise on what is a small BRA-owned lot now used solely for large advertising banners. Read more.
