Red Line service was briefly halted Saturday night when a man dropped onto the tracks at Park Street - just as a train was pulling into the station.

The train driver was able to stop the train before hitting him; he then got up and climbed up onto the center platform, with the help of a T worker. According to an MBTA Transit Police report:

CharlieCards have a five-year expiration date, as Ron Newman discovered. Since they were introduced in late 2006, that means lots of them are going to be expiring soon. Any value you have left on an expired card won't just go poof, however. MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo says:

T riders may have the value on their expiring cards transferred to a new one at the T's Customer Service windows at Downtown Crossing (in the underground corridor across from Macy's). We'll be launching a public information campaign very soon.

The Medford Green Line Neighborhood Alliance posts e-mail from Boloco honcho John Pepper about the Boston Avenue Boloco:

We opened our Medford restaurant 5 years ago in great part due to the knowledge that the Green Line was "coming" and would add vitality to Boston Ave. We heard it could be 4-5 years which sounded crazy at the time. Sadly, we’ve recently decided not to renew our lease and we'll be out November 30.

The MBTA just reported:

Blue Line. Expect significant delays due to a wire problem. Seek alternative transportation where possible.

The Blue Line sure seems to have a lot of wire problems.

Felicia likes to look around as she rides the trolley and imagine which people would fill which roles:

Sometimes I get lucky and there's a Sayid– or even better, a Sawyer/Sayid combo.

Other times I hope the clunky Green line keeps it together until I get home, 'cause I don’t want to be stuck in THAT storyline.

Adam Weiss reports a T worker at State Street ordered him to put away his camera "because of 9/11."

Weiss adds it was one of the orange vests, not a T cop, and that he would have tried to explain the T's photo policy, but his train was pulling in.

Morales MBTA Transit Police report arresting a Dorchester man for indecent assault and battery on a 28 bus Saturday afternoon - thanks in part to the bus driver, who refused to open the doors for him as she pulled into Dudley station.

According to a police report, Jose Morales, 28, was sitting near the front of the bus around 2:20 p.m., Saturday, when the bus stopped at Warren and Circuit streets, and he stood up and grabbed the left butt cheek of a woman sitting in front of him. She screamed she'd just been grabbed and stood up - at which point Morales grabbed her again, police say.

The bus driver told police Morales tried to get off the bus, but she instead kept the doors closed until she got to Dudley station, where police were waiting.

The T reports Morales is the 14th person arrested for indecent assault and battery on its system this year.

This past December on the 28:
The bus wasn't the only thing that was jerking between Dudley and Ruggles Friday afternoon

Innocent, etc.

Columbus Avenue slobsColumbus Avenue slobs.

It's as if we've been hit by a hurricane of slobbery. Citizens Connect this morning is just filled with reports of mounds of filth and vermin, including:

  • 774 Columbus Ave., Roxbury: "Every week, Residents of 772, 774, and 776 Columbus throw loose trash on the sidewalk. Makes it difficult for garbagemen to pick up everything, so there is usually lots of trash left behind. (worse than usual because many are probably moving on Sept 1)."
  • Huntington Ave., Mission Hill: "Student moving trash all up and down Huntington Ave from Brigham circle to S. Huntington corner."
  • 22 Batterymarch, downtown: "The sidewalk is stained and usually covered in rotting food, bird feces, feathers, avian flu, and pigeons."
  • Downtown Crossing Red Line platforms: "Dead cockroaches are littered all over." Ed question: Well, better than if they were still alive, no?
  • The strip mall on American Legion Highway in Roslindale: "Rubbish fiesta on Legion."
