Fairmount Hill lights

Darryl Houston captured the daylight-powerful lights on Fairmount Hill in Hyde Park - put up by a guy who rents an aerial lift to ensure no surface is unilluminated.

Flaming hula hoops of doom on Cambridge Common

Alright, probably more like LED-illuminated hula hoops of fun, but that just doesn't sound as good. In any case, the Hula Hoop Light Show on the Common is Friday, March 20 at sunset (6:57 p.m.). Wear black clothing and sturdy boots.

'Punched in the face for no apparent reason'

Cambridge Police report on two punching incidents yesterday:

Around noon:

[T]wo victims stated that while they were walking on Mass. Ave. by Memorial Dr., a man approached them and punched them in the face for no apparent reason.

The puncher was arrested, taken to a local hospital for observation, police say.

Around 9 p.m., a Harvard student walking through Cambridge Common was set upon by four teenaged ruffians:

Taken was his gym bag. The unknown males attacked the victim from behind, not saying anything just punching him in the head.

In an unrelated incident, a Cambridge resident reported somebody pushed in his air conditioner to gain entry to his residence, then stole two bottles of vodka from his freezer.
