Way up in the mountains

Looking out over Roslindale and Hyde Park from Grew Hill in Roslindale.

Prefer a more traditional Boston view? Here's a nice shot of downtown from the 15th floor of the Hyatt Harborside.

Ramon gets up early this morning to photograph the sun rising over the Back Bay.

Justin, meanwhile, has posted a set of photos of a snowy Arnold Arboretum.

Look up!

You could drive by the Olde Irish Alehouse on Bridge Street in Dedham pretty much every day for 10 years and never notice the two carved swans up in the cupola atop the restaurant's roof (until one day you park nearby to take a photo of the old Waving Neon Chicken).

Again?

Roslindale street scene this morning.

Halley: My cross-country skiis have gotten quite a workout this year.

Trevor: It's bound to stop snowing soon or later, right? He posts mid-storm photos.

Nat posts mid-storm photos as well. Ana too. Mats posts photos of a Kenmore Square car accident. The Urban Pantheist takes shots along the Muddy River.

Andy's flight from Paris to India is delayed because the plane got stuck in our storm.

Angela: Mother Nature, I'm begging you - please make this the last one.

For the love of God! I can't take this snow anymore! Mercy!

Heather refuses to mention how tired she is of the snow.

Waving chicken

Fontaine's, a West Roxbury and Rte. 1 landmark for more than 50 years, closed last year. The new owners promptly tore the place down so they could put up some sort of yuppie joint. But even with the frame of the new place nearing completion, they haven't taken down the waving chicken, although it no longer waves at night (relive the chicken's glory days).

Stony Brook Reservation is an amazing thing - an actual forest within Boston's city limits. Its trails bring you past rocky outcroppings and valleys carved by glaciers, a large pond and, of course, zillions of trees. There's something particularly serene about walking on the trails during a snowstorm.
