Long live Enver Hoxha

They could be Boston's quietest ethnic community - you just don't hear much about the Albanians of Roslindale and West Roxbury. But Kathy Cahill spotted some Albanian graffiti in Roslindale this morning. Translated, it means "Long live Comrade Enver Hoxha," a paean to the Communist tyrant who ruled the country from 1944 until his death in 1985.

Rain washes troop's sign away
Bagpipes - and pipers - covered in plastic
Pressley among those candidates with an umbrella
Nobody needed his services today
Horsies
Wildlife, Rozzie style
A man and his truck
Marching band, of course
Book strong
Proud to be a football
Arr!

OK, it rained for the Roslindale parade today, but marchers - and parade-goers - were prepared, with umbrellas (well, most of them) and plastic bags for bagpipes and loudspeakers. And if the rain took out a sign or two, dancers still do catapults, kids still collected candy and candidates still worked the (maybe a bit thinner) crowds.

Street musicians - photo by Vasant Marur

Vasant Marur visited several of the street pianos downtown on Saturday.

Meanwhile, WBZ's Carl Stevens visited and played 74 of the 75 pianos - one, of course, is locked away from the public due to the federal semi-shutdown.

Sailboat stranded on Dorchester beach after hurricane

Today's the 75th anniversary of the Hurricane of 1938 smacking New England upside the head. And as you can see from Leslie Jones's photo, it pushed a sailboat or two onto the beach along Dorchester Bay - just like Hurricane Sandy did last year.

The Hurricane of '38 meant crushed cars in Cambridge:
