A Roxbury woman has pleaded guilty to 33 credit-card fraud and larcency charges related to the money and credit cards she stole from employees at three schools in Dorchester, Roxbury and Somerville and Massachusetts General Hospital, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.
Three Massachusetts pediatricians and groups representing pediatricians across the state and the country say the FDA is dragging its feet complying with a 2009 federal law requiring cigarette makers put graphic images of the effects of smoking on their products - and are hoping a lawsuit might spur some action. The City Council today approved a hearing on conditions for housekeepers at the Wyndham Hotel on Blossom Street, whom they said are routinely exposed to blood, feces, vomit, syringes and other possibly unhealthy materials left in rooms by Mass. General patients staying at the hotel. Read more.
A Suffolk County grand jury yesterday indicted a computer consultant on charges he bribed two employees at Partners Healthcare over four years to win "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in contracts with the healthcare giant, the state Attorney General's office announced. The two employees were also indicted.
Partners is the holding company that runs Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's hospitals and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
