The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 8 Thetford Ave., off Norfolk Street in Dorchester, for a two-alarm fire that displaced nine residents and a cat around 3 p.m. on Thursday. Read more.

Shortly before 11 a.m., the pilot of a Massachusetts Air National Guard F-15 flew low over Hyde Park and Roslindale on the way to participate in the rededication of the Fallen Heroes Memorial on Northern Avenue in South Boston.

A worker at the Star Market at 4 River St. in Lower Mills was charged with stabbing another worker - and pressing his thumbs into the man's eyes - in a fight around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

The Supreme Judicial Court concluded today that a judge erred in ordering Boston Police to hand over information about an informant in a gun case because even if his name were redacted, the information could provide enough clues for the defendant - or somebody else - to figure out who he is. Live Boston reports BPD officers and state troopers responding to a gunfire call at Blue Hill Avenue and Angell Street Friday night found a man with a fresh gunshot wound to his hand. Their investigation showed the man was apparently trying to shoot somebody else, but wound up sending a bullet through his own hand instead.

The Dorchester Reporter reports the BPDA board today unanimously approved a plan to turn the Comfort Inn at 900 Morrissey Boulevard into 99 apartments. Under the proposal by Pine Street Inn and The Community Builders, the building would have full-time staff to help residents adjust to their new lives. Read more.
