Boston firefighters are at 105 Cushing Ave., which has multiple apartments and a day care, where what is now a four-alarm fire was reported shortly before 12:50 p.m. Firefighters were ordered out of the building. Read more.

Saleeba's training route through Dorchester.

Steve Saleeba will be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge to honor both Gavin, an 8-year-old with leukemia and Dennis Doherty, a longtime nurse at Children's Hospital, who died in February - and who let everyone know that while he lived in Norwood, he was OFD. To get in shape, Saleeba plotted out a Dot training route.

WFXT reports two men got into a fight shortly after 6 a.m. at the Ashmont T station, which one man ended by plunging a knife into the other man's shoulder. He was then arrested.

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of gunfire at Harvard Street and Gleason streets in Dorchester around 3 a.m. spotted a car with a broken taillight and pulled it over when they ran the plates and discovered they weren't assigned to that car. Read more.

The owner of Stash's Pizza in Dorchester and Roslindale, who had been arrested on a single count of "forced labor," which carries a maximum possible sentence of 20 years, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on seven counts of forced labor and attempted forced labor, each of which carries a possible separate sentence of 20 years, the US Attorney's office reports. The Dorchester Reporter reports the T has added a couple million dollars to its 2024-2028 capital plan to hire a consultant to look at redesigning JFK/UMass, where one entrance had to be shut for four months and where a man fell to his death on a stairway missing stairs that had never been removed despite being marked as unsafe.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that a police officer who stopped David Privette not long after the robbery of a gas station one night in 2018 had enough probable cause to conclude he was a suspect even before he found him packing a gun and several hundred dollars in cash, and so prosecutors can bring him to trial. A man is being held pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday after he and two of his four daughters punched a security guard during a fight at the AMC Movie Theater at South Bay Friday night that started in front of Boston Police offices and after security guards asked him and his kids to leave because he was sexually harassing female workers, including asking them out on dates, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The owners of Southline, the former Globe plant on Morrissey Boulevard turned lab and office space, have filed plans with the BPDA to use part of a former Globe parking lot between the building and the Expressway for a six-story building focused on, naturally, life sciences space, but also with the ability to use space for offices, should the market change. A federal judge today ordered Stavros Papantoniadis of Westwood held without bail pending the outcome of his "forced labor" case after concluding he would be a threat to victims and witnesses who might testify against him when he answers the charge that he brutalized workers for 15 years by beating and threatening them, throwing knives at them and, in one case, falsely sic'ing police on them. Roslindale Stash's closed today

Roslindale Stash's is closed today.

Federal agents today arrested the owner of Stash's Pizza in Dorchester and Roslindale - and formerly of several suburban pizza places - on a federal charge of forced labor, for preying on what he allegedly called "fucking immigrants," whom he'd hire and allegedly beat, scream at, and force to work up to 80 hours without overtime and sometimes without any pay at all, on threat of having them deported. The MBTA announced this morning it's lifted most of the speed restrictions on the Mattapan Line, but adds it still has "block restrictions where necessary," so not quite 100% back to being the Mattapan High-ish Speed Line.

Fans of more leisurely trolley rides can still hop on the Green Line, which remains a "global" slow zone as inspectors continue to look for both new track problems and old ones that the T isn't sure if they were actually fixed.

Man challenges turkey, loses

One of these days, men in Dorchester will learn that if you go after a turkey, it will return the favor. And it has velociraptor-like spurs and a beak and you don't. But until then, we'll keep getting videos like the one above, and sagas like the guy forced onto the hood of a car by the turkeys he tried to menace.
