Wanted for failed bank robbery in Dorchester

Boston Police report they are looking for a 50-something man who tried holding up the Eastern Bank branch at 1906 Dorchester Ave. on Jan. 9.

Police say the man gave a teller a note demanding money, but then took it back and left without any money.

A 16-year-old already facing armed robbery and kidnapping charges for two incidents on Jan. 13 was arraigned yesterday on new charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and indecent assault and battery for incidents on Jan. 11 and 13, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The teen, not named because of his age, had his bail increased from $1 million to $2 million due to the new charges, the DA's office reports. Although he gave his last address as a school in Lancaster, he has family in Dorchester.

State Police report arresting six men in Worcester Sunday on animal-cruelty charges after finding live and skinned, dead chickens in their minivan.

State Police say the six were in a minivan on a journey from Queens, NY to Lawrence with the chickens and cockfighting-related equipment when a trooper pulled them over for "motor vehicle violations" around 5 a.m. on I-290 eastbound.

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley says officers acted properly when they fatally shot Darryl Dookhran on Dec. 7, 2013.

In a letter to BPD Commissioner William Evans, Conley says Dookhran had opened fire on the officers - hitting one of them in the arm:

Boston Police report arresting Ameen Lacy, 37, of Dorchester, on charges he held up the Tedschi store at 187 E. Cottage St. at gunpoint early on Dec. 23.

A 16-year-old, apparently from Lancaster, was arraigned in Suffolk County Juvenile Court today on charges of armed and masked robbery, assault and battery, and attempted kidnapping for a Tuesday incident on the Red Line between JFK/UMass and Andrew stations and kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for a Monday incident in the area of Fields Corner, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

He faces arraignment tomorrow in Dorchester Municipal Court on additional charges.

This time, it was a guy allegedly marching down Talbot Avenue with a large knife early Monday who tried committing suicide by cop, the Dorchester Reporter reports. He was taken to Carney Hospital.

Once police established who their suspect was for a stabbing at Burke High School on Friday, they didn't have much trouble finding him: They just looked for a signal from the GPS braclet he already had on his ankle, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The 16-year-old, not named because of his age, was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court yesterday on charges of being delinquent by way of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Lawyers for the owners of the Lower Mills Pub on Dorchester Avenue are hoping the Boston Licensing Board gives them a couple months to unravel a tangled skein of legal issues left when longtime co-owner Nicholas Byrne died after a long illness five years ago, so that they can sell the bar to a prominent Boston restaurant operator.

Boston Police report a man hanging out with what he thought were his friends at 1 Aspinwall St. in Codman Square late Thursday suddenly found himself beaten and robbed by them.

When police arrived at a residence on Bradlee Street in Dorchester on the evening of Oct. 9 to investigate gunfire, they found a basement full of guys who all basically denied knowing anything about gunfire or even a gun - at least until the keen-eyed officers noticed one sitting in a pocket of the pool table they were all standing around.

Police are searching for a group of young men they think may have shot out the rear window of an occupied car on Stonehurst Street near Hamilton around 6 p.m.

The driver, not injured, told police he saw the group of four or five approaching his car and, not liking the looks of things, began to drive away - only to have his window shot out.

A stabbing victim who walked into the Boston Medical Center ER around 4:25 p.m. said it had happened about 25 minutes earlier at Jeremiah Burke High School, 60 Washington St.

The suspect is described as a Cape Verdean teen dressed in a gray hoodie and blue pajama pants.

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old after a cop on a walking beat in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Johnston Road heard gunfire, then saw two guys running from the scene, around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The officer pursued the suspects on foot, but to no avail. Responding officers canvassed the area and recovered two firearms, a black Berretta .40 caliber handgun and a black Colt revolver, on the ground in the area of 7 Wilcock Street.
