Dan Kennedy reports, adds the Globe isn't saying who - or what they'll do with the 16.4-acre parcel. Bill Forry, of what could soon be the only newspaper based in Dorchester, adds that whatever gets proposed will likely need both city and state approval - the latter because of potential contamination on the site and because it sits right next to a marsh.

A utility pole fell around 7:20 p.m. at Erie and Washington streets in Dorchester, bringing down phone and electrical wires and trapping a man in the car for 45 minutes until Eversource turned off the power and firefighters were able to get him out and hand him over to EMS to be checked out (photo of the pole and car). Police and fire investigators are both looking at how the pre-teen suffered the injuries around 9:30 p.m. at 320 Talbot Ave. WBZ reports the cause was fireworks. Somebody in the apartment initially told first responders a microwave oven had blown up.

Verizon has filed updated plans with the city for its roll out of FiOS Internet, phone and cable service that show that West Roxbury and parts of neighboring Roslindale, most of Dorchester, the area around Dudley Square, would be the first areas in the city to get the Comcast competitor. Boston Police report a man in his 20s was shot dead around 11:35 a.m. outside 68 Hancock St. A passerby, a woman in her 50s, was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

We just walked through Roslindale Square and there are so many gypsy moths you have to keep your mouth closed to avoid one flying in. Reports are coming in of equally gross conditions in South Boston and Dorchester.

Josh Deering reports his flight into Logan last night had to sit 20 or 25 minutes at the gate to clear a swarm of the moths to connect the jetway.

Gunfire around 8:05 p.m. at the intersection of Hildreth and Wildwood streets left at least three cars with fresh bullet holes or scratches. No people, however, were reported hit.

Boston Police report arresting a 15-year-old from Lynn they say threatened at least two people with a loaded gun on Dudley Street before pedaling away on a bike he'd stolen not long before.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force reports the Santander Bank branch at 585 Columbia Rd., at Stoughton, was held up yesterday.

The suspect is described as 5'7" or 5'8" and muscular.
