WBZ reports the 7-year-old was riding his bike on Bowdoin Street near Quincy Street and was up from Brockton to spend the weekend with his grandmother. An adult was grazed in the head by a bullet in the same incident.

A Dorchester man was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison this week for transporting three Maine women across state lines to work as prostitutes in Boston.
Unlike in Maine, where he earned money from the work of two of the women, however, Fritz Blanchard, 28, and his fellow pimp never got a chance to see any revenue from the women they tried to have pick up men in downtown Boston, the FBI reports. Read more.
The Dorchester Reporter reports the developers behind the proposed Dot Block at Dot. Ave. and Hancock Street are now asking for BRA approval to build 420 apartments, thanks to their acquisition of some more land.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted George Ortega, 32, of Lynn, of first-degree murder for the death of Steven Fuentes in Uphams Corner in 2012, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Capt. John Greland at C-6 reports on an incident around 3 p.m. yesterday at the South Bay Home Depot: A "very drunk" Quincy man wheeled a couple of air conditioners out of the store without paying for them, managed to slam them into a car in the parking lot, then started running when a bystander started chasing him - until he remembered he had a knife, which he pulled out. But by then, police had arrived on scene. They disarmed him and took him down to C-6 for some booking action.

Boston Police report Jeromie Johnson, 33, of Dorchester, died after being shot at 50 Richfield St. around 8:20 p.m. on April 4.
