Boston Police report the arrest of a man newly on probation for armed-robbery convictions who was wanted by federal officials for his alleged participation in the robbery of a man in Everett last month.

Dejahn Harrison, 27, who has "a lengthy, violent past" and was considered armed and dangerous, was arrested following a stakeout at 37 Pleasant Hill Ave. yesterday, police say. Read more.

A two-alarm fire has displaced 46 residents at Ditson Street Senior Housing, 25 Ditson St.

The Boston Fire Department estimates damage at $500,000 from the fire, which started on the second floor, then spread to the third floor and the roof.

Fire Investigators have determined cause was an electrical short in the wiring in a pipe chase 2nd floor ceiling.

Residents were evacuated safely.

Boston firefighters are at 57 Woodford St. for a third-floor fire reported around 1:50 p.m. A second alarm was ordered about nine minutes later

Police and prosecutors showed video of Friday's Devon Street incident to community leaders, who afterwards told the Globe it was pretty clear that the man fatally shot by police fired first - just as officers were getting out of their cars to investigate a report of a shooting.

The man, Peter Fanfan, 29, has a long record that includes gun-related and auto-theft arrests.

The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to let Levi's Restaurant, 323 Washington St., add cocktails and hard liquor to the beer and wine it was already allowed to serve. Read more.

State Police report a man's bad driving led to his arrest for heroin trafficking Wednesday afternoon.

State Police say a trooper spotted a guy ignore a stop sign from Old Road onto Columbia Road shortly before 6 p.m. Also, he didn't signal for the right turn from the popular shortcut from Blue Hill Avenue to Columbia Road. Read more.

UPDATE: The Herald reports the third guy had a GPS bracelet on, too.

Two of the three men arrested on charges they robbed a Savin Hill market at gunpoint last night were wearing GPS ankle bracelets as a condition of their bail on earlier gun-related arrests, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

The Pleasant View Market at Savin Hill Avenue and Pleasant Street was robbed at gunpoint around 6 p.m. by three masked men with a gun, who made off with some cash and several cartons of Newport cigarettes.

Not long after, police shut down Roach Street off Dorchester Avenue when they tracked the suspects to an apartment at 22 Roach St. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board today sided with residents and elected officials and denied a license for a liquor store proposed for 438 Blue Hill Ave.

At a hearing yesterday, residents and representatives from the mayor, six city councilors and two state representatives said there was no public need for yet another liquor store in an area that already has eight of them within a half mile.

The Herald interviews the father of Alvin Sealey Jr., found fatally shot in the head on Washington Street in Dorchester early Wednesday.

Alvin Sealey Sr. told the Herald his son, known to friends as Trizzy, played the piano and was working two jobs. Read more.
