The Southampton/Crosstown Safety Task Force met this morning to survey the mounting problem of drug addicts discarding ever growing numbers of needles in the streets and on the sidewalks of the Newmarket Square area - home to a number of programs for drug addicts and the homeless.

Members of rival gangs from Dorchester and Mattapan briefly turned Boston Bowl on Morrissey Boulevard into a battleground early on Aug. 15, with a member of one gang shot at in the parking lot and a member of the other having to evade bowling balls hurled at him - before somebody caught up with him and punched him in the face hard enough to break his nose. Wanted man

Transit Police report they are looking for a guy they say threatened to stab a Route 45 bus driver with a screwdriver around 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 21.

The incident happened at Blue Hill Avenue and Pasadena Rd., police say.

Boston Police report that around 11 p.m. on Sunday, a woman was robbed and then sexually attacked at knifepoint at Dorchester Avenue and Harbor View Street in Dorchester.

The suspect is described as black, in his 20s with a medium build, short black curly hair, and a small amount of facial hair. He was wearing dark clothing and may have fled on foot in the direction of Sydney Street.
