Boston Police report arresting two people they say were busy busting up the Starbucks at 36 District Ave. in the fancy new section of the South Bay mall this morning when a detail cop tried to intervene only to come under attack from fists and a thrown cup of hot coffee. Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports the Codman Square Neighborhood Council voted to oppose plans to turn the Oriental House Chinese place into a Boston Fried Chicken place in part because the square already has enough fast food, in the form of a McDonald's and a KFC. The group had earlier worked to keep a Popeyes out. The proposed operator objected to being thrown in with the Popeyes, though, because he planned to also offer "gyros, hamburgers, and salads."

A Boston Police officer wearing a ballistic vest was shot outside 80 Esmond St. around 9:40 p.m., a couple minutes after he arrived with other officers to investigate a report of a man skulking around with a gun. Read more.

Boston firefighters responded shortly before 8:45 a.m. to 25-27 Forest St. in Roxbury for what turned into a two-alarm fire.

The department reports no injuries. Four residents and a bird were displaced, the department says.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a developer's plans to rehab the former St. Matthew convent at 43-45 Stanton St. in Dorchester and add a four-story addition in its rear to create 14 condos. Read more.

A man was sliced in the arm and chest on Thetford Avenue at Evans Street shortly before 2:40 p.m., then ran all the way down to Washington Street - after accepting some towels from a utility worker - before police found him. Injuries not considered life threatening.

The bus driver suffered leg and hip pain in the crash at Wentworth Street and Claridge Terrace off Norfolk Street around 4:40 p.m. One child was also transported to the hospital for observation. Police summoned ISD to check the house's structural integrity.

A federal judge last week sentenced Fernando Bost, 32, to 8 1/2 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to robbing the RJ Smoke and Convenience Store at 844 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester on March 29, 2023 - just 35 minutes after he'd held up a store in Brockton. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to suspend the license of the Dublin Pub, 7 Stoughton St. in Dorchester, for one day over the way a patron was sliced with a machete last August - but then voted to hold the punishment in abeyance until the end of August to give the bar a chance to prove it's taking steps to keep it from happening again. A Suffolk Superior Court judge today declared Laurette LeRouge, 19, competent to stand trial on charges she beat the principal at the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School into unconsciousness in 2021, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.
