Stanley Staco reports a man was stabbed on Vassar Street around 1 a.m. Because of the severity of his injuries, the homicide unit was called in, just in case.

Police responded to two locations for shots fired: Humphreys Street at Humphreys Place in Uphams Corner around 9:30 p.m. and Armandine Street just off Washington around 12:15 p.m. No reported injuries.

The Boston Licensing Board today sided with residents and elected officials and denied a license for a liquor store proposed for 438 Blue Hill Ave.

At a hearing yesterday, residents and representatives from the mayor, six city councilors and two state representatives said there was no public need for yet another liquor store in an area that already has eight of them within a half mile.

The Herald interviews the father of Alvin Sealey Jr., found fatally shot in the head on Washington Street in Dorchester early Wednesday.

Alvin Sealey Sr. told the Herald his son, known to friends as Trizzy, played the piano and was working two jobs. Read more.

Tito Jackson speaks against proposed Grove Hall liquor store

Councilor Jackson led the charge against proposed liquor store as other residents waited to testify.

UPDATE: License request rejected.

Grove Hall residents and religious leaders packed the Boston Licensing Board hearing room today to urge the board to reject a license request for a Blue Hill Avenue liquor store.

The proposed Blue Hill Liquors, 438 Blue Hill Ave., is "absolutely tone deaf to the people of Grove Hall," City Councilor Tito Jackson said. Read more.

Boston Police report a 19-year-old man was shot to death around 1:40 a.m. at Washington Street and Dunbar Avenue. The Globe reports the man, pronounced at the scene, was shot in the head.

WBUR reports on the 6-4 vote by the state education board to make Dorchester Collegiate Academy shut down due to low test scores and high attrition rates.

About 20 stunned parents in bright yellow shirts with the DCA logo stormed out after the vote, many in tears.

Dot. Ave. is shut between Sudan and Crescent because of a crash sometime before 11:30 a.m. The Herald reports the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died.

Anxious ad on the MBTA Orange Line

Only when wondering if the Orange Line will get me to work on time ...

Forest Hills became the end of the line in more ways than one for one Orange Line train. Also, a Mattapan trolley exhaled its last at Ashmont. The T reports both lines are now moving again.
