UPDATE, 10:30 a.m., Friday: Police say the woman remains alive.

A woman was hit by a car and wound up under it around 11:30 p.m. at Columbia Road and Geneva Avenue in Dorchester. Both the homicide unit and the fatal-accident reconstruction team were called in. The driver remained at the scene.

Columbia Road was shut in both directions for the investigation.

Two challengers look to unseat the longest sitting city councilor in September's preliminary election for District 4, which includes parts of Dorchester, Mattapan and Jamaica Plain. We talked to both Andrea Campbell and Terrance Williams. Councilor Charles Yancey did not respond to several interview requests. A fourth candidate, Jovan Lacet, will be listed on the Sept. 8 preliminary ballot, but Lacet says he has dropped out of the race.

Andrea Campbell of Mattapan is a newcomer to the race for public office after serving as deputy legal counsel for Gov. Deval Patrick. Terrance Williams of Dorchester is back after an unsuccessful 2013 run against Yancey. Read more.

Two guys with a gun robbed Mr. Convenience, 646 Blue Hill Ave., around 11:20 p.m. on Friday.

Around 10 tonight, one guy with a gun robbed 786 Market, 249 Blue Hill Avenue, Stanley Staco reports.

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said today a police officer was justified in shooting Roudy Hendricks in Dorchester in 2013 because he started shooting first - and hit both the officer and his partner. Read more.

Star Market is hoping customers will buy foods to eat on patios outside its Dorchester, Fenway and Allston stores.

The chain goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday for permission to add patios at the three locations, similar to what the Whole Foods in the South End offers - with 24-hour patio seating at the Fenway store. Read more.

The Globe reports the two Leader brothers allegedly cited Donald Trump's remarks on immigrants to justify beating and urinating on a homeless man early yesterday.

Trump said he hadn't heard of the incident but said his backers are very "passionate."

A judge ordered Scott (l) and Steve Leader held without bail pending a Sept. 3 dangerousness hearing, the Suffolk County DA's office reports.

State Police report the brothers interrupted their journey home from last night's Sox game to attack a homeless man they found wrapped in a sleeping bag on Columbia Road next to the JFK/UMass station. Read more.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that police and prosecutors proved they had a good reason to take a look at the location data for Shabazz Augustine's cell phone for the period in 2004 when his girlfriend went missing, then her car went up in flames, then her body was found floating in the Charles, wrapped in plastic bags, with weights chained to it. Shortly before midnight along Groom Street near Humphreys. At least two cars hit, at least one bullet wound up in the second floor of a house at the other end of Groom. Read more.

Around 9:40 p.m. at Olney and Everton streets. A house on Everton had a window shot out; two cars were also hit. Police are looking for two men on a scooter, one of whom fired at least 13 rounds.

Dead train at JFK/UMass

A Braintree train pulled into JFK/UMass and then just sat there because the doors refused to open. Finally, workers figured out how to get people off the train.

Around 11:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the liquor store at Hancock and Trull streets. When police arrived there was nobody there; the victims, a man and a woman, showed up not long after at Boston Medical Center.

In the lower torso and leg, around 4:35 p.m. at 43 Norton St., near Bowdoin. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives were called in, just in case.

A convicted drug dealer was indicted yesterday on charges he got New Hampshire drug addicts to buy guns for him, which he and an associate would then drive down to Boston to sell for drugs. Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports the man stabbed repeatedly in his South End apartment yesterday is Sheldon Lee, music director at Blessed Mother Teresa parish in Dorchester.

The man charged with stabbing him, his neighbor, David Eng, was held in lieu of $100,000 bail following his arraignment today in Boston Municipal Court, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A woman was robbed at gunpoint around midnight at Savin Hill Avenue and Tuttle Street in Dorchester, only a couple of doors down from the house Mayor Walsh is getting ready to leave for a new home in Lower Mills.

The suspect was described as black, in his teens, about 5'8" and 200 lbs. He jumped into a black SUV that fled down Maryland Street.
