So far tonight, burst pipes caused by the sudden freeze have forced three hospitals to send patients elsewhere, left Wang Theatre patrons out in the cold, angrily yelling to be let back in, and flooded a floor at the Prudential Center mall. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board today approved plans for a proposed restaurant at 879-881 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester that would feature Dominican and Spanish food in a large space with 240 total seats, including in a lounge and a function room. Read more.

The MBTA reports things are back to what passes for hunky dory on the Red Line now that they've disposed of a train with a "mechanical problem" at Fields Corner, so the governor should have no problems as she takes a ride on the Red Line at 12:30 to show her concern about T issues - from Park Street to South Station, from which she is supposed to walk to the T operations center on High Street, which, based on the continuing extra time between trains on the Red Line, is still understaffed.

WCVB identifies the victim of a fatal shooting at Babson and Fremont streets in Mattapan Sunday morning as Tyler Lawrence, 13. The Suffolk County District Attorney's office says the boy appears to have been targeted rather than the victim of a stray bullet.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Comfort Kitchen has opened in a long abandoned comfort station on Columbia Road in Uphams Corner - as a cafe during the day and a sit-down restaurant with a bar at night, featuring "the flavors and ingredients of the African diaspora - global comfort food - connected from Asia to the Americas."

Diustin Cruz, the owner of La Parrilla, 299 Hancock St. in Dorchester, didn't appear at a licensing hearing today on a triple shooting early on Oct. 30 in what police say was an illegal after-hours club, where customers could order an entire bottle of liquor or take puffs on a hookah until the sun came up. A former Braintree man who has been locked up since 2017 on charges he killed a Bowdoin Street man with a knife, an electric guitar and his fists and feet was sentenced to 19-20 years in state prison after pleading guilty today to manslaughter and armed robbery for the man's death, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. A Dorchester man faces a federal murder-for-hire charge after he allegedly paid a hit man who was really an FBI agent the first $500 installment for killing his estranged wife, who had kicked him out of their home, and her boyfriend.

Mohammed Chowdhury, 46, faces a detention hearing in US District Court in Boston today to determine whether he has to stay locked up while awaiting trial or whether bail would be enough to ensure his appearance in court - and the safety of the public and his two alleged targets.
