Tables quickly turned during a large brawl on Tremont Street Thursday afternoon when a man being puncked and kicked pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the people stomping him, Boston Police report.

Boston Police report finding a 29-year-old man with a stab wound inside a Union Park Street residence around 7:30 a.m. today. As they rushed the man to Boston Medical Center in critical condition, they charged Soren Capawanna, 26, with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police say the man is expected to survive the "domestic violence related stabbing."

Jimmy Ammons's attorney acknowledges a struggle inside his apartment yesterday morning ended with a woman rushed to the hospital near death and Ammons fleeing to his mother's house in Dorchester.

But at his arraignment in Dorchester District Court today, Virgen Palermo said the reason the woman was in the apartment to begin with - and what the two were fighting about - could determine the outcome of the case against Ammons, a laid off city DPW sign painter now facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder.

UPDATE: A source says the victim, a woman, is now expected to survive and that a man is in custody.

Somebody was stabbed shortly after noon in an apartment at 884 Cummins Highway and was rushed to Boston Medical Center. Homicide detectives were summoned to the scene - routine whenever there's a chance the victim might die. Police are looking for a 1998 Volvo S7 with Mass. plates of 462 HD7.

Boston Police report arresting Melvin Wright, 28, on charges he sent another man to Boston Medical Center with multiple life-threatening stab wounds shortly before midnight last night.

Wright, police say, stabbed another man repeatedly during a "verbal altercation" at 107 Devon St.

He was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

The Daily Free Press reports a man leaving Tavern in the Square around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday was set upon by another man who wanted his coat. A struggle ensued, the mugger whipped out a knife and stabbed the man in the left side before making off with his coat and wallet.

A woman walking on Merriam Street reports she was held up at knifepoint around 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 29. In e-mail, she writes:

A man rushed me from behind, put his arm around my neck, showed a tactical/hunting knife with his other hand and demanded my stuff, mostly my phone. I screamed the whole time and took off after him when he got my purse. Somehow my phone ended up still in my pocket. A witness was nice enough to come out but we lost the guy through the yards towards Boylston St. E13 police did show up to do a quick drive by and take my information but all in all I found them to be rude, insensitive, and lackadaisical. I'm still dealing with back pain from the attack. It's so disheartening that this type of dangerous assault happened to close to a hub of JP and it's shocking to me that there hasn't been a shred of publicity warning the community. I estimated the attacker to be about 6 ft tall, light skinned Hispanic male, in early-mid 20s, with a slight accent. in a black hoodie. That's the best I could do since he came at me from behind. The knife was about 5 inches long, sloped down at the point, serrated at the handle and dark matte gray.

Already facing charges of witness intimidation, Miguel Rodriguez is now behind bars for allegedly throwing a pregnant woman to the ground and repeatedly kicking her and then, when he was done with her, stabbing her boyfriend so badly he needed 93 stitches to close all the holes in his back, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Boston Police are at 85 Lenox St., between Tremont and Shawmut, where a 14-year-old was found stabbed about six times shortly before 2 p.m. Police are not considering the injuries - which may have happened off Columbus Avenue, life threatening, however. The stabbing is the latest violent incident in the area between Mass. Ave. and Melnea Cass Boulevard:
