Boston Police report detectives ordered the immediate evacuation of several dozen non-residents at Phi Delta Theta, 97 Bay State Rd. on Sunday night after they discovered a place filled with both water from the ad-hoc waterfall and way too many people - including at least one hapless freshman with a Bud Light. There are two things everybody involved can agree on: Around 1:30 a.m. on July 5, the small entryway at Croke Park, 268 West Broadway, was filled with both pepper spray and a group of angry women. Read more.

The owners of El Diamante billiards place, 71-73 Meridian St., have ordered its security guards to leave their pepper spray at home after a July incident in which a guard sprayed two obstreperous patrons with the noxious stuff.

Exactly why he sprayed the two men with OC spray proved a bone of contention at a Boston Licensing Board hearing today, and could help determine what action, if any, the board takes at a meeting on Thursday. Read more.

The city's last two strip clubs, next door to each other on Lagrange Street in Chinatown, have agreed to make changes in the way they disperse customers at closing time following a 911 call from a nearby resident about the "circus atmosphere" on the small street early one June morning. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to revoke the food-serving license for New York Fried Chicken, 1251 River St., because listed owner Riaz Ali Shah hid the real owner of the take-out place and because he's agreed to plead guilty to federal tax and immigration fraud charges. Read more.

A man who didn't feel like leaving a Seaport bar at closing early one May morning now faces criminal charges - and is recovering from the wound he gave himself when he attacked the bouncer trying to get him to leave - a State Police trooper and bar managers told the Boston Licensing Board today. The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to give the listed owner of New York Fried Chicken on River Street in Cleary Square a couple of months to get his affairs in order and sell the take-out place or whether he has to shut down immediately because he's agreed to plead guilty to federal tax-evasion and immigration fraud charges. The Boston Licensing Board today approved a deal with the owner of Icon and Venu on Warrenton Street to shut Icon for nearly a month and Venu for two weeks, partly as punishment for a string of incidents with pre-21 drinkers over the past year, partly to retrain and recertify their staff in how to recognize and bar underage would-be drinkers and how to better disperse crowds at closing time.
