A doorman at Cure Lounge, 246 Tremont St., was stabbed in the back, head, shoulder and hand early on Aug. 25 by a man upset he'd been tossed out of the club for being too disruptive, police, club officials and the doorman himself told the Boston Licensing Board this morning. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board could decide tomorrow whether to let Boston's only Scottish restaurant add whisky to the Scottish beers it now offers.

Jason Waddleton, owner of the Haven, 2 Perkins St. in Jamaica Plain's Hyde Square, told the board today people constantly ask him why they can't get some whisky to go with their haggis, Scottish eggs, smoked salmon and other Scottish delicacies. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to punish Pho So 1, 223 Adams St., for repeatedly staying open past its 10 p.m. closing time.

The board today heard details of police citations for incidents on Aug. 29 and Sept. 2. That's in addition to a similar incident in May and yet another incident on Sept. 16.

Oh, don't worry, it's not that Councilor Frank Baker doesn't love Wahlburgers as much as everybody else - how could he not? - it's just that given how scarce liquor licenses are in this town, he doesn't think it's fair that the Boston Licensing Board give them a license for a South Bay Mall add-on where construction has barely started. The Boston Licensing Board today held 14 hearings on requests from restaurants that want one of the five all-alcohol licenses that state legislature graced on the city that became available this month - and holds a similar number of hearings next week.

Board Chairwoman Christine Pulgini said the board will defer any decisions on who gets the new licenses - which can be resold for six-figure amounts - until after all the hearings are done, so it can decide which five made the best "public need" cases. Read more.

Charles Larner, who owns Pier 6 in the Charlestown Navy Yard, said today he'd hire a "launch boat" to offer free shuttle service between the that restaurant and the one he wants to build on the East Boston waterfront - and that he would look to eventually expand the boat runs to other waterfront neighborhoods.
