It's the face of a suspect in three unsolved sexual attacks along the Esplanade and in South Boston last year, officials say.

State and Boston police and the Suffolk County DA's office released the sketch today of a man they say attacked a woman jogging on the Esplanade around 11 p.m. on July 29, 2007 and whom they believe is involved in a similar attack on June 16, 2007 near the Esplanade and on July 29, 2006 at Moakley Park in South Boston.

Each victim described her assailant as a clean-shaven African-American male in his mid-20s to mid-30s, standing 5'8" to 5'10". At the time of the attacks, he had a medium to large build and a bald head.

Officials say they are also looking for some specific people they believe may have witnessed the Back Bay attacker: A lone male present near an Esplanade footbridge around 11:15 the night of the Esplanade attack; A pair of bicyclists wearing helmets and cycling gear who were walking their bikes near the footbridges between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. on July 29, 2007 - whose presence prompted the attacker assailant to put his arm around the woman as if they were a couple; and a man and woman, both well-dressed and in their late 20s, who were near Joe's American Bar and Grill at the intersection of Dartmouth and Newbury streets between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. that same day.

Senator John Kerry is speaking at the Boston Ward 5 Democrat Committee meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at LIR in Boston. The public is invited to attend.

Considering that Senator Kerry is up for re-election this November, I hope we see him more at events like this.

The media were able to tour the new Apple Store on Boylston Street yesterday. Dan Moren with MacUser has some interesting thoughts on what's going to happen to the hollow glass column running down the center of the spiral staircase.

The public grand opening is at 6 PM today. 2,500 limited edition T-shirts are being given away.

Early-morning fight leads to double stabbing on Boylston Street

Boston Police report two men were stabbed on Boylston Street around 2:40 a.m. today:

They were walking in the area of 793 Boylston Street when they were approached by a group of four black males who appeared to be in their late teens. According to the victims, the suspects were also riding bicycles. Victims stated that a verbal altercation began and soon gave way to a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, the victims say they were stabbed.

The pair were able to walk to Mass. General, where they were treated for "non-life threatening injuries."

Bobbob hasn't taken the T regularly for three years now, so wonders if the following sight is unusual:

... [T]here were two very buff, swat-team style cops with large guns -- I don't know my guns, but this sure wasn't a handgun, it extended about the length of his torso. Is this a new thing? Have there been military style police riding the rails for a while now? I opted to take the next train but the other passengers seemed less surprised.

Amazingly, JP Beat got a photo of two T SWATters at Back Bay station this morning, and they don't look like they're about to order him to the ground and rip the memory card out of his camera.

Maybe they were too busy looking for this evil dude.
