Bus/bike lanes on Huntington Avenue between Brigham Circle and Gainborough Street will be made permanent by the end of the year with the addition of red paint, after the MBTA and BTD said today that 39 and CT-2 riders are saving up to two minutes per trip during the morning and evening commutes when compared to the same period in 2019. Truck almost hits pedestrian bridge on Storrow Drive

RadRebe was among those jammed on Storrow Drive when an 18-wheeler driver somehow missed those "CARS ONLY" signs and got on Storrow Drive outbound around 6:30 a.m. - and then had to make a long, slow backup of shame after stopping just before shearing off the top of his cab at a pedestrian bridge. The Apple Store, 815 Boylston St. goes before the Back Bay Architectural Commission tomorrow for a review of its plans for bollards in the sidewalk out front to ward off the sort of crash that killed one and injured nearly two dozen at the Apple Store in Hingham last year. Read more.

The Boston Fire Department reported at 9:35 p.m. that a water main burst at 337 Newbury St, between Mass. Ave. and Hereford Street and was sending water all the way down to Gloucester Street. Read more.

"And next up, Tony!" called the host of Trident Booksellers's Poetry Open Mic Night.

Instead of one person standing and walking toward the mic to read a poem as had happened all evening, two people got up from a table at the back of the café. One of them ducked to the side, and started filming on her phone as Tony approached the mic. Read more.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Boloco is closing its outlet on Boylston Street near Berklee College at the end of the day and that it plans to close its other Boylston Street location and one on Congress Street downtown by the end of the year.

MassDCR says please don't hit our bridges

DCR is out with an online ad spot that urges newcomers to Boston to keep their rental trucks off the river roads - set to just the sort of plaintive music you'd expect on a late-night ASPCA ad:

For just zero dollars a day you can not hit a bridge or overpass on Storrow Drive and and Soldiers Field Road in Boston and Memorial Drive in Cambridge. ... The bridges, and the trucks, will thank you.
