City Council President Michelle Wu often takes the Orange Line to work at City Hall - and often takes her two young sons with her (City Hall has a daycare center). Increasingly, she has problems making the transition from underground to City Hall Plaza, like today: Read more.

Orange Line cars in Shanghai

The MBTA's Joe Pesaturo shows us the first four new Orange Line cars on a dock in Shanghai, awaiting shipment here for testing (earlier, on the way to the port, he passed a convoy of trucks hauling the cars to the dock).

The cars should arrive next month for extensive testing on the brand-new tracks the T has been laying alongside the active Orange Line north of Boston (seen here from the Wellington skyway): Read more.

At 6:01 p.m., the MBTA reported "moderate" delays on the Orange Line towards Forest Hills after a train gasped its last at Downtown Crossing - the second Orange Line train to die in today's afternoon rush hour.

"Minor" delays on the Orange Line as a result, the MBTA says.

Veeconley reports the T is once again using both tracks at Forest Hills, which should shave a minute or two off commutes to there. Of course, that does nothing to solve delays caused by the Orange Line just being the Orange Line, but it's a start.

Subway riders in Boston to enjoy 'Made in China' trains

Chinese TV put together a vignette of our impending Orange Line cars - look at them go vroom on what looks like a major train line and don't get too worried about what looks like a giant red tick trying to eat the first car.

Boy, it's going to be great when the spiffy new Orange Line cars arrive and you'll get to spend extra time enjoying them, thanks to the sort of signal problems the T is reporting at Community College.

The MBTA reports a train-loving artist in China has prepared this work to honor the Chinese subway cars that will, if nothing goes wrong, start rolling out on the Orange and Red Lines over the next several years. The T adds that the Springfield assembly plant, where most of the cars will be built out of components shipped over from the People's Republic, opens for business today.

Darn autocorrect. Around 3:50 p.m., S.I. Lydon tweeted:

Wondeing why the outbound Orange Line has been stopped at Ruffles for five minutes for a “police action” at Bunker Hill?

He got some replies, although none directly answering his question: Read more.

Why, there were "moderate" delays on the Orange Line and everything, but the MBTA has removed the carcass and things are back to normal again.

By adamg - 10/6/17 - 9:43 am

So far this morning, both the Orange and Red Lines have had delays due to trains that realized they were past their expiration dates.

I'm on an outbound Orange Line train that is just sitting at Community College, waiting for the T to remove the lifeless hulk of a dead train somewhere further up the line.

UPDATE: We sat at Community College for about eight minutes, then went into snail-emulation mode on the way towards Oak Grove.
