Two men got into a fight on an outbound Orange Line train approaching North Station shortly before 12:30 p.m. The loser got punched in the eye; the winner fled out the station and onto the street, where he melted away into the crowds.

Wrapped up Orange Line mockup car getting ready for trip to Boston

The MBTA reports the Chinese company that will build new Orange and Red Line cars has packed up a two-thirds mock up of an Orange Line car for shipment to Boston, where the T will give it the once over. Read more.

Deb Beatty Mel reports Orange Line trains are entering and leaving from both sides of the platform again, several months after one side was shut to allow for the work needed to build a new station entrance on the other side of New Washington Street.

UPDATE, 9 a.m. Delays officially upgraded to "severe."

An Orange Line train has gone to its just rewards at Mass. Ave. and now riders get to experience "moderate" delays, although some are questioning the use of that word: Read more.

What a strange tern of events: A hawk flew into Back Bay station this morning. Transit Police are keeping an eagle eye on it until the Animal Rescue League can come and get it out. On last report, it was perching on one of the wooden rafters at the top of the station; hopefully, it won't be overcome by diesel fumes.

Transit Police report a man in a hurry to get off the Orange Line at Back Bay yesterday afternoon will now have to make time in his busy schedule to answer a charge of assault and battery at Boston Municipal Court. Read more.

Ventillation fan being installed at the Forest Hills MBTA station

Deb Beatty Mel had some time to study one of the massive ventilation fans being installed at Forest Hills as the T's contractors work to build a new Orange Line/commuter rail entrance on the other side of the tunnel under the impending revamped Arborway.

Orange Line train testing tunnel clearances for new cars

The T forwarded this photo of an Orange Line car - 1216 to be exact - before rolling out for service this morning. Those are foam blocks on the roof - to test tunnel clearances for the configuration of the new on-order Orange Line cars, which will have their HVAC systems on the roof. In addition to the foam blocks, the car's also been outfitted with seven cameras - six on the roof and one at the front to record mile markers on the trip.
