It's the face of a suspect in three unsolved sexual attacks along the Esplanade and in South Boston last year, officials say.

State and Boston police and the Suffolk County DA's office released the sketch today of a man they say attacked a woman jogging on the Esplanade around 11 p.m. on July 29, 2007 and whom they believe is involved in a similar attack on June 16, 2007 near the Esplanade and on July 29, 2006 at Moakley Park in South Boston.

Each victim described her assailant as a clean-shaven African-American male in his mid-20s to mid-30s, standing 5'8" to 5'10". At the time of the attacks, he had a medium to large build and a bald head.

Officials say they are also looking for some specific people they believe may have witnessed the Back Bay attacker: A lone male present near an Esplanade footbridge around 11:15 the night of the Esplanade attack; A pair of bicyclists wearing helmets and cycling gear who were walking their bikes near the footbridges between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. on July 29, 2007 - whose presence prompted the attacker assailant to put his arm around the woman as if they were a couple; and a man and woman, both well-dressed and in their late 20s, who were near Joe's American Bar and Grill at the intersection of Dartmouth and Newbury streets between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. that same day.

Alicia normally just accepts double parking as a way of life in not-so-gritty Southie. But the driver of a BMW SUV double parked outside the PS Gourmet Coffee on Dorchester Street, keeping people from turning right, really got her dander up:

... [T]here was a lady behind the wheel just chatting on her cell. In that situation, if you're waiting for a friend, why not unblock the right hand lane and pull about 20 feet forward onto East Broadway? It's just common courtesy, people!

A Boston Police report describes three incidents of people getting knocked to the ground:

On May 1, a woman on Sleeper Street was knocked to the ground and robbed of $100.
On May 2, a man with a number of drinks under his belt was kicked to the ground at K and E. 6th streets and robbed of $50 worth of Chinese money from his wallet.
On May 6, a woman was punched and kicked repeatedly at the Hess station at Dorchester Avenue and Columbia Road.

Oh, and on May 6, a man was stabbed in the leg during a dispute over a parking spot at 121 Mercer St. However, the victim didn't much feel like helping the police out.

Angry lover charged with setting fire that killed two South Boston sisters

Nicole Chuminski, 25, has been arrested and charged with setting the fire that killed Acia Johnson, 14, and her sister Sophia, 2, on April 6.

She will be arraigned on two counts of murder in South Boston District Court on Monday, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

At a press conference today, Suffolk County DA Dan Conley said that during their investigation of the fatal fire, police quickly learned that:

Chuminski and the victim's mother had an argument in the hours preceding the fire. They obtained evidence that Chuminski was present near the scene around the time of the fire. And they determined that an accelerant found on Chuminski's clothes after the fire was consistent with an accelerant discovered on the door frame of 154 West Sixth St. These facts - as well as others we cannot divulge today - support the complaints obtained this afternoon in South Boston District Court.

The girls' mother, Anna Reisopoulos, and Chuminski allegedly had a tempestuous relationship. Reisopoulos was charged with assault and battery on Feb. 1 in connection with a physical altercation at the now destroyed house.

Southie Eastern Bank held up

Eastern Bank, 470 W. Broadway, held up shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday by a guy described as between 40 and 45, 5'10" weighing about 220 pounds and in need of a shave. He got away with $3,200, possibly in a gray or green sedan with a couple of other people, Boston Police report.

Police are also looking for a black Hispanic male, about 15, with just a hint of a moustache, for allegedly stealing some guy's bike at knifepoint on the afternoon of April 26. Last seen riding the yellow Magna bike into the Old Colony project.

Giant turkeys roaming Southie? Yawn. Jason reports the 11 bus had to come to an unexpected stop on Dorchester Street on Tuesday:

[W]e were halted for about 15 seconds by a giant wild turkey making its way across the street. I seem to recall half-standing up from my seat, and pointing at the turkey for all who cared to be roused from their ipods, which was likely nobody.

Big tax break proposed for company that earned $2.4 billion last quarter

$4 million package to keep JP Morgan in the city - by consolidating its local operations in a waterfront building, using city and state programs intended to help blighted areas. As the Globe notes:

... The tax breaks come as the city is struggling to fund its school system and Mayor Thomas M. Menino has proposed increasing parking fines to raise money. ...

However, the tax deal would run through 2022, with the estimated $4 million in breaks spread out over that period, so it's not like the city will have to close a school or two next month to pay for it.
