Motorists are being warned today at the UMass turn on Morrissey Boulevard to abandon all hope or, at least, turn around, through Oct. 30. Sure enough, around 11 a.m., the road was down to just one lane and it was flooding by the yacht club, and you could see Dorchester Bay was impatiently lapping at the rocks between that and the Expressway, just waiting for the chance to get just a couple inches higher.

UPDATE: They fixed whatever was wrong, bridge is now down again.

The Globe reports officials are urging motorists to avoid Morrissey Boulevard between Freeport and UMass because the drawbridge is stuck in an upright position and they don't know how to get it down.

MassReady tweets a 9:30 p.m. accident on Morrissey Boulevard in front of UMass: State police cruiser involved in a crash; multiple injuries.

Channel 4 reports somebody in a Mustang making a U-turn plowed into a K-9 cruiser, injuring both trooper and dog, but that both are expected to be OK.

Braude admits he's a stupid Masshole, appeals ticket on technicality

The Herald reports on Big Mouth Jim Braude's day in court; Braude acknowledged driving the wrong way on Morrissey Boulevard but said his ticket should be dismissed because a state trooper mailed him the ticket rather than handing it to him. The trooper testified he was more concerned at that point about protecting the life of the British prime minister - at whose car Braude seemed to be aiming.
