Brookline Police have posted photos of two women they say are targeting other women in Coolidge Corner for some pickpocketing.

On Thursday, a woman had her credit card snatched at the Trader Joe's around 5:50 p.m. Just 19 minutes later, the two suspected thieves racked up more than $2,500 in purchases at the Watertown Target.

The next day, around 11:15, the two returned to Trader Joe's:

A second victim at same Trader Joe's reported that a female engaged her in conversation while a second female tried to pull her wallet from her bag. The victim took a picture of this suspect (in blue outfit).

Missing Tessa

The writer writes tonight:

[O]ur recent and beloved rescue dog, Tessa, jumped the fence in Brookline and has been roaming through the wilds of Coolidge Corner for the last 24 hours. It's possible she's staying in some good Samaritan's home right now or has tucked herself away on a porch. But if anyone sees her or knows of her whereabouts, please reach out to this page. Here's a picture of her. She's smart, fast, and immeasurably sweet. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's micro-chipped, but her tags were off when she was let out into the yard. Naming of character in the next book for anyone who gets her back to us! (No, really!) Again--Tessa, black-and-tan Beagle, 24 hours on the lam, sweet as all hell. Thank you!

Turlach MacDonagh says he was a bit startled to see this sticker the other day in Coolidge Corner, which he notes is "one of the least Irish parts of the Boston area."

Brookline Booksmith buys what's left of the Globe Corner Bookstore, expands travel section in Brookline

Brookline Booksmith announced today it's bought out the Globe Corner Bookstore - which had become an online-only venture - and is using its assets to open a "Globe Corner Travel Annex" at its Coolidge Corner store.

The move means impending travelers can now buy any of 2,000 different maps of regions around the world. globecorner.com remains a separate Web site, at least until Booksmith can integrate it into its own Web site.

Say, we don't get many unicorns in here ...

Meat as far as the eye can see

The Small Boston Kitchen is loving the Meat House, a new meaterie in Coolidge Corner.

The star of the store is undoubtedly the enormous meat cases that line the left hand side of the store. Rows and rows of salivation inducing brightly blushing meats of varying size and shape and all at very reasonable prices are the main draw here. From specialty cuts and marinaded meat and seafood, this is the place to go for your old standby steak or to try something a little different, like spinach and feta stuffed pork.

Turning parking spaces into tiny little parks in Coolidge Corner

Linda reports that on Sept. 17, four parking spaces on either side of Harvard Street by the Upper Crust and the Friendly's will become impromptu parks:

In front of Upper Crust Pizza and the Coolidge Corner Theater there will be a colorful activity center with games and "movies" showing pavement to parks improvements from around the country.

Across the street, in front of Friendly's there will be an urban oasis where visitors can sit on the grass or in a beach chair and dangle their toes in the water or play in the sand.

It's part of an international effort to get people to reclaim their streets. One of the Brookline sponsors is the town transportation department, so presumably organizers won't have to keep feeding the meters.
