Suffolk Construction has posted this time lapse from the April weekend when it poured more concrete than had ever been poured in a single effort in Boston, as part of the construction of the Millennium Tower atop what used to be Filene's.

Transit Police report charging a Hub man with shtupping himself on a Red Line train last night while making lewd comments to two women sitting across from him.
More specifically, Richard Johnson, 48, of Boston, "had his penis out of his pants and was masturbating/fondling himself," police say, adding he got off at Downtown Crossing.
Johnson is scheduled for arraignment today in Boston Municipal Court on a charge of open and gross lewdness.

Workers this morning began pouring 6,000 cubic yards of concrete for a slab at the bottom of what will become the 50-story Millennium Tower where Filene's used to be in Downtown Crossing.
Suffolk Construction, overseeing the work, says the concrete project - which is slated to include deliveries from 600 trucks over 36 hours - will result in the largest "single pour" concrete slab in the city's history.
Filene's, Jordan Marsh, Gilchrist's, even Woolworth, all names from downtown's past now. But don't forget R.H. Stearn's, at Tremont and Temple Place, which once rivaled Filene's and Jordan Marsh as a regional retailing company.
Its flagship ten-story building, finished in 1909, still stands at Tremont Street and Temple Place. Even the original metal awnings are still there - although somebody, for some reason, removed the "R.H." from them sometime after the store closed in 1978.
The Boston Business Journal reports that Primark will be leasing four floors in the renovated Filene's building in Downtown Crossing.
Also planned for the project: A Roche Bros.
The Globe reports on a group of about 20 people that went on a violent spree from the Common to Arch Street Wednesday evening. Four people were arrested; three victims were transported to Mass. General.

Transit Police report a man trying to piggyback into Downtown Crossing last night ordered the woman whose fare he was trying to share to "hurry up" so he wouldn't get pinched by the fare gate.
The experience apparently so rattled the man that he grew even more agitated as he got on an Orange Line train bound for glory at Forest Hills, which prompted a call to police:

Transit Police report arresting a man they say was brought to ground by Red Line riders who heard a woman struggling with him as he tried to grab her purse.
Cesar Gonzalez, 26, police say, followed a woman off a Red Line train around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and reached for her purse:
The victim held tightly onto her purse and was yelling for help. At this time several good Samaritans heard the victim screaming and came to her aid tackling Gonzalez to the floor and restraining him until the police arrived.
David Finnerty had some time to get to know fellow riders at South Station.
A train died at Downtown Crossing around 5:30 p.m., as of 6:15 p.m., riders trying to head south were still being thwarted.

An inbound Orange Line train passed onto the next plane of existence near Community College sometime around 7 this morning. The T brought in another train to push its carcass out of the way.
Then an outbound train felt death's cold embrace at Community College as well.
Meanwhile, on the Red Line, a train crossed over to the other side at Downtown Crossing, causing massive delays for people heading downtown from both the north and the south.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force reports it's looking for a guy who tried holding up the Santander Bank branch on Winter Street in Downtown Crossing on Tuesday , only to learn he'd gotten a teller with no money:
Teller explained she had no money in her drawers, at which time the [suspect] became agaitated and demanded money again. After being shown there was no money in the drawers, [suspect] fled the bank on foot towards Summer St.
Around noontime, Kerry Tubbs photographed the line at the CharlieCard store in Downtown Crossing, where dreams go to die all the people whose CharlieCards expired on Friday have to go to get their remaining value transferred to fresh new cards that don't expire until 2021.
Meanwhile, Red Line riders are queuing up in novel places at South Station this afternoon because the traditional stairway down to the subway is shut for repairs. But, Jesse Tokarz reminds us, at least there's still five different coffee shops inside. At least there's a bar now.

The ire at Downtown Crossing is so strong you could hang your parka on it. "Moderate delays" per automated announcement, but this crowd is overflowing from the platform to the stairs and hallways.
After performing quite well during the storm last night (except for that little fire at Aquarium on the Blue Line), the T is struggling this afternoon:
On the Green Line, something went horribly awry with a switch and now there are supposedly shuttle buses from Kenmore to points inbound. At 3:20 p.m., Sam H. tweeted:
Shuttles replacing B, C, and D inbound at Kenmore but no buses to be seen, most walking.
