The Globe takes a look at Roslindale, basically says that with new luxury units in the planning stages in Forest Hills, savvy investors need to move into Roslindale, where they can continue their drive to push the middle class out of Boston by snapping up relatively low priced properties in what is still a neighborhood "in transition" with "pockets of grittiness."

The Boston DPW will pick up yard waste on recycling days during the weeks of June 16, July 14, August 11 and September 15 - and will run fall yard pickup for seven weeks.

Summer clipping pickups will have the same basic rules as the spring and fall pickups: Stuff has to be in paper bags or trash barrels labeled "yard waste" - stuff in plastic bags won't be picked up.

Spring pickup starts next week.

MyCityGardens is a group that aims to connect people with a zeal for gardening but no yards with people with yards who'd love to see them cultivated but just can't do it themselves.

Their Web site features a map showing where people are looking for plots to garden and where people have plots that can be gardened.

It is true that so far, there are more gardeners than landholders in our system. BUT there is more gardening space out there than is visible on our map. We've observed the people with land who sign up to yard share tend to stay 'hidden' in our database (i.e. don't have a public profile), but reach out to gardeners with public profiles. So gardeners, create a post, even if you don't see available land nearby.

With Tufts leaving the negotiation table on the Powder House School, the opportunity for the parcel to be developed is down to two candidates, one of which has a very direct connection to Ward 5. As I reported previously, one of the top contenders was Davis Square Partners who submitted a proposal that could bring between significant numbers in annual tax revenue for Somerville.

Team Brookline has 42 runners, 4 charitable causes…
and advice from its own mental health expert.

Everyone who ran in, attended, watched, supported the Marathon last year keenly felt the effects of the day and what followed. For many of us, those feelings will come flooding back this year on April 21. But runners training for this year’s Boston Marathon are deep into that experience already.

That’s why Team Brookline is drawing on the expertise of a special coach this year: a mental health expert who will talk with the Team as part of its training regimen.

The red-hot South Boston housing market showed signs of chafing today when a divided Zoning Board of Appeals today approved a controversial residential project despite opposition from not only residents of a neighboring building but Mayor Walsh, City Councilor Bill Linehan and state Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry.

The four-story, 45-foot-high building at 340 W. 2 St. will include 29 residential units, 43 parking spaces - 12 of them into which a car elevator will put the vehicles - and first-floor commercial space. Of the 29 units, 18 will have one bedroom, the remaining 11 two bedrooms.

In-window air conditioner

A concerned citizen looks up on Appleton Street in the South End and complains about the in-window AC he now can't not see:

This is not to code and required action or it will spread. Second on same block.

Appleton Street? Appleton Street? Oh, yeah, the hunting grounds of the South End font kvetcher.

Scott Van Voorhis says all signs point to the imminent yuppification of Dorchester, even though, as he notes a couple of times, it's really a series of "mini neighborhoods," including, at least according to him, Andrew Square. Whatever, young professionals are now getting priced out of Southie, and, God, don't even think about Jamaica Plain, so watch out, Dorchester (next thing you know, somebody's going to propose a fancy wine and cheese shop for Dot Ave. Oh, wait ...).
