BosGuy reports the Kartal has a soft launch on Thursday in the Tremont Street space where the Boston Eagle used to be. He reports the new place is brimming with homages to its predecessor, right down to its name, which means "Eagle" in Turkish.

Stat reports that researchers at BU's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories on Albany Street- designed to study killer microorganisms - grafted the spike of an omicron variant of the virus onto one of the OG strains from Wuhan to see whether something on the spike was changing the virus's virulence. WBZ Archives: The Final Ride of the Orange Line ‘El’

In 1987, the MBTA shut the elevated Orange Line south of Back Bay so it could eventually switch over to the semi-submerged line we know today. The T brought in 100 buses and the mayor of Boston held a press conference to urge patience - and to avoid driving downtown. Walt Sanders at WBZ reports.

In the run up to Friday's month-long Orange Line shutdown, one of the alternatives touted by officials, at least for people south of downtown, was riding a bike up and down the Southwest Corridor. Read more.

Bicyclists wanted for attack

The Boston Police Department reports it is looking for a group of bicyclists it says attacked a motorist on Tremont Street near Union Park Street - one with a fist to the driver's face - shortly before 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Read more.

New mural at Washington Manor on Washington Street

Adam Castiglioni looked up at Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez's "Souledad," now getting painted on the side of the BHA's Washington Manor building on Washington Street between Worcester and West Springfield streets in the South End.

More on the artist and his mural, part of the city's Transformative Public Art project.
