Father Tim Schenck of Hingham passes along word that Tom Brady tops the list of athletes consigned to hell by some Baptist church in North Carolina - where the minister is also planning a gala Halloween barbecue and book burning to destroy Satanic works, such as those written by Billy Graham, Mother Theresa - and non-King James Version bibles. Yes, a church is going to burn bibles.

Black ministers not named Bruce Wall to endorse Menino today

If you happen to be near the Eliot Congregational Church in Roxbury around 2:30 this afternoon, you'll get to see a bunch of ministers lending their imprimatur to Tom Menino's re-election effort. Among the ministers planning to endorse Hizzona are Evan Hines of the Eliot Church, Jeffrey Brown of the Union Baptist Church in Cambridge and Bishop Gideon Thompson of the Jubilee Christian Church.

Wall isn't endorsing a candidate, but has made it clear over the past couple of years he has no love for Menino.

As he now does every year, the Food Monkey plans to break his Yom Kippur fast tomorrow evening by attempting to down a Godzilla Burger at Eagle's Deli in Cleveland Circle - that's one pound of meat and a matching pound of fries, starting at 6 p.m.

Anti-abortion group says it's close to getting Massachusetts license plates

Massachusetts Choose Life says it is only 214 sign-ups away from getting the Registry of Massachusetts to begin offering "Choose Life" vanity plates - part of whose proceeds would then fund the group's mission.

The state requires non-profit groups to either sign up 3,000 motorists for a charity plate or 1,500 motorists if the group puts up a $100,000 bond. The plates would cost $40 - with $12 going to the state to pay for stamping out the plates at MCI Cedar Junction and the rest going to Choose Life (there is an additional fee for swapping out an existing Massachusetts plate).

Seems a Sox/Yankees game originally scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sept. 27 was moved to 8 p.m. so ESPN could show it, but then was moved back to 1 p.m. again because that evening happens to be the start of Yom Kippur. The un-move came after a New York congressman complained to Bud Selig. ~~Bonus: No Joe Morgan.~~ But looks like ESPN will still be broadcasting the game.

A. Yes. The Archdiocese of Boston guidelines are quite clear, reading, “only one speaker, a member or a friend of the family, may speak for not more than five minutes in remembrance of the deceased.’’ Other speeches are supposed to take place during a wake.
