WBUR reports on Rabbi Dan Rodkin's plea. In addition to retired cops and service members who already have guns, Rodkin is writing letters of recommendation for members who want to get their own gun licenses.

Rodkin began to seriously consider an attack on his congregation after the fatal attack on the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Hope Central Church on Seaverns Avenue in Jamaica Plain isn't waiting for the current administration to be voted out: The Religion News Service reports the church has gotten an ink stamp of Tubman's profile and is using it on $20 bills:

"I'm taking such pleasure in this. Mr. Trail of Tears, gone!" laughed Ann Potter, who counts offerings for HCC, as she covered the former president’s face on bill after bill.

The Jewish Journal reports the city of Peabody has scheduled a solidarity rally for City Hall at 4 p.m. this Wednesday following an anti-Semitic incident on May 25:

[Rabbi Nechemia] Schusterman said that while out on a walk with Rabbi Sruli Baron, a man in a loud pickup truck swore at him and threw a penny at him and dared the rabbi to pick it up.

The Swellesley Report reports that around 12:50 a.m. one recent morning an officer was dispatched to a local synagogue on a report of somebody banging on the door - by somebody inside who was not about to open the door at 12:50 a.m. Police say it was a local teen who told the officer he saw lights on and was curious about what was going on inside. The officer told him he could better satisfy his curiosity by calling the temple during normal business hours and asking.

A total of $21,000 in reward money is now up for anybody who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspected arsonists to blame for fires at rabbis' homes in Arlington and Needham. Read more.

Your Arlington reports a May 11 fire, for which police have released video of a possible suspect, is the home of a rabbi who heads the local orthodox Chabad center, which he runs out of his home. The head of the town's Human Rights Commission says there is no current evidence that the fire "was motivated by the identity of the homeowners." Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports police are trying to find who keeps pouring a red substance on statues outside Saint Gregory’s Church in Lower Mills and Most Precious Blood Church and Saint Anne’s Church in Hyde Park.

A witness told police they had observed an unknown black female enter Most Precious Blood Church on a separate occasion and attempt to deface statues inside the church before fleeing the scene in a white sedan.

New Zealand vigil at Cambridge City Hall

Greg Cook was one of several hundred people at a vigil for the victims of the latest white-nationalist mass murderer, this time in New Zealand. He listened as Farida Moustafa, a 16-year-old student at Cambridge Rindge and Latin said that it could just as easily have been her and her family there. He also watched as people kneeled to recite the evening prayer.

Seaweed snacks now kosher for Passover

The Dedham Stop & Shop always seem to have one of the largest selections of food that's kosher for Passover outside of Harvard Street in Brookline - and not just the traditional stuff like matzoh and gefilte fish. Among the selections this year: Roasted seaweed snacks.

A Suffolk Superior Court judge yesterday convicted Sean Devlin, 35, of North Reading, for a 2017 incident on the Orange Line in which he screamed anti-Muslim slurs at a hijab-wearing woman returning home from a prayer service and then attacked her as she fled the train. Read more.

Jesus, what a billboard

A billboard that declares only Christians can know God has blown up West Roxbury and Roslindale Facebook groups over the past couple of days, with posts from people saying we all need more Jesus in our lives alternating with posts with non-Christians and others who object to the in-your-face-message and posts from people who say everybody should just get over it.
