Creepy space saver

Or maybe whoever put out this space saver on Cornell Street could care less about Halloween and is just warning you what will happen if you dare to try to park in front of his house, lack of snow be damned.

Suzuki motorcycle

UPDATE, Tuesday morning: Suspect nabbed in Randolph.

State Police report they're having some trouble catching a guy driving around our local highways - when he sees a cruiser, he guns his engine and speeds away.

The operator of this motorcycle operates between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., weekdays. He has been observed by Troopers on Route 24, Interstate 93, and Route 128 (I-95) traveling in excess of 100 mph using all lanes and operating in a reckless manner.

If the operator of the motorcycle observes a marked state police cruiser, he will accelerate, using the breakdown lane to a speed above 100 mph to avoid being stopped or identified. The motorcycle has no plate mounted.

He's a white guy in black helmet and black leather jacket, who sometimes wears brown Carhartt insulated construction pants.

The callers reported the cat to appear either sick or frightened. Troopers Monahan and Hilton were able to capture the scared feline. Area animal control officers were contacted. The Boston Animal Control responded and took custody of the feline.

Hevis Lleshi, who worked with Annie Dookhan at that now closed crime lab in JP, faces arraignment today on charges she rear ended another vehicle while drunk Wednesday evening.

Lleshi, 32, of Quincy, was arrested at North Shore Road and Oak Island Street in Revere, the DA's office says, adding police found her "visibly intoxicated" and blew a .24 on a breath test. The pregnant driver of the other car was hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.

Dookhan trained Lleshi as a chemist in 2011, the Globe reported last year.

Innocent, etc.

Trooper Nearly Struck in O'Neil Tunnel

State Police have released this video of an out-of-control car nearly plowing into Trooper Jay Clement, sitting in a cruiser inside an O'Neill Tunnel work zone:

Trooper Clement noticed this vehicle at the last moment. Miraculously the operator of the small black car turned at the last moment, missing Trooper Clement, by only inches. The small black car was sliding out of control when he passes Trooper Clement. Subsequently, Trooper Clement stopped the motor vehicle. The operator was not impaired.

New two-way Avenue de Lafayette

The change caught some drivers unaware, and, yes, they got tickets. Photo by Sarah K.

Boston Police alert us that Avenue de Lafaytte is now a two-way street between Chauncy and Harrison Avenue Extension:

New traffic signal equipment, signs and pavement markings will be in place to help drivers to navigate the new traffic pattern. The change is expected to reduce the number of vehicles that inadvertently enter the Downtown Crossing pedestrian only zone, and provide easier access from Downtown Crossing to the highway system, the Greenway and Chauncy Street.

Casey Overpass repaired

Casey all patched up. Photo by MassDOT.

Weekend road repair atop the crumbling Casey Overpass went so well the elevated road won't need to be shut for further repairs, the state Department of Transportation says. According to MassDOT spokesman Michael Verseckes:

The work on Saturday made full repairs to 15 spans and partial repairs to five more.

The overpass, slated to be torn down and replaced with surface roads, has 40 spans, he said. He added:

Truck sardine-canned on Storrow Drive

Court spotted a freshly Storrowed truck on the ramp to the Fenway from the outbound side this morning.

The company in question, FriendBox, makes boxes, so that's one boxed-in box box truck. They're based in Danvers, so you'd think they'd have heard about those quaint Storrow Drive height restrictions.

Update: Phelan Canney shows us that parting is such sweet storrow:

Car hit three times on South Huntington

Mr. Eggcorn reports this car on South Huntington Avenue was hit at least three times today by other cars sliding on the trolley tracks, driven by people who don't realize why that's not a good idea, at least, not until it's too late.

Happens all the time when it rains.

And here's a citizen complaint about another South Huntington smashup today - city replies: Talk to the T.

Storrow Drive's second fatal motorcycle crash in less than two weeks happened around 2:50 p.m. yesterday when a 35-year-old man from Brighton apparently lost control of his bike on the inbound side near the Bowker Overpass, striking a curb and then a pole, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

On Sept. 22, a Wakefield man died when he struck a Jersey barrier near the Longfellow Bridge.

While the fatalities yesterday and last month are still investigation, the evidence does not presently suggest that either one involved a second vehicle.
