Only since there aren't any overpasses there, the tractor-trailer took out a couple of telephone poles and wires near the Beethoven School around 2:15 p.m. Police blocked southbound traffic at West Boundary Road and northbound traffic at Grove Street until the situation could be cleared.

Shiva apparently keeps residence on Storrow Drive and not as far South as Hyde Park's River Street. A Bud truck didn't make it into the alley leading to Master McGrath's bar.

You know how miraculous it is to see the big rigs whip effortlessly and perfectly into those tight spaces, as though the driver was handling a sports car? Well, sometimes it's not so flawless.

The Daily Free Press reports a pedestrian was hit by a motorcycle whose driver then sped away shortly before 8 p.m. in front of Marsh Plaza on the BU campus. AlertNewEngland tweets the motorcycle "sustained heavy damage" and was last spotted fleeing over the BU Bridge.

Crumbling Casey Overpass in Jamaica Plain

State engineer inspects overpass underside around 5 p.m.

UPDATE: The state Department of Transportation tweets the closed lane was reopened around 4:30 a.m.

Alex Jones reports state highway engineers ordered the outbound side of Casey Overpass shut down this afternoon when parts of it began crumbling to the ground below. Plan your afternoon commute accordingly.

You know all those giant boxes that have been showing up at key intersections all over town? Boston Police are now enforcing the New York-like "don't block the box" rules that basically require you to stay out of an intersection if you can't get to the other side before the light changes. KWAPT reports this morning:

Boston PD is up & down Brookline Ave enforcing new "in the box" lawn. Gang of people pulled-over at Brookline & Francis.

State Police report an "overheight" truck tried to get into the Sumner Tunnel in East Boston around 11:15 a.m. but didn't get far after causing some damage to the tunnel roof and shutting one lane.

The truck that struck the ceiling is a 2008 Freightliner owned by McCoy National Lease Inc. of Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was towing a trailer owned by Primestar Trucking LLC of Postville, Iowa. The overhead strike was observed on camera by Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Operations Center personnel, who notified State Police Troop E personnel, allowing for an immediate response.
