A judge set bail at $5,000 today for a man charged with a series of traffic violations - and for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon - after he allegedly drove through a barricade set up for the Puerto Rican Festival parade, sending them flying into officers who had been trying to get him to stop, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. A federal judge on Friday not only dismissed a Worcester man's latest lawsuit against two police departments for arresting him for driving without a license, he warned that if he tries to sue them again, he could face sanctions and even fines. Read more.

Squashed Ryder box truck in Kenmore Square

Greg Moseley took some pictures this afternoon of a Ryder box truck just sitting on Beacon Street in Kenmore Square around 4:15 p.m., looking suspiciously like it was freshly storrowed. What else could cause that sort of damage in that area? Read more.

A couple of guys from Providence came up to West Roxbury Wednesday night to steal catalytic converters, but they only managed to saw one off before they crashed in the big, scary rotary at West Roxbury and VFW Parkways, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

State Police report:

A TT carrying Bananas has rolled over on the exit ramp from Route 290 East to Exit 12 Auburn. Mass State Police are on scene along with MassDOT, Auburn Fire Dept.

No word on the size of the load, or if the driver was young, just out on his second job, or if he yelled "Christ! as his foot nudged the brakes to slow him down, but the pedal floored easy without a sound and he sideswiped nineteen neat-parked cars, clipped off 13 telephone poles, hit 2 houses, bruised 8 trees and Blue Crossed 7 people.

An Uber driver and his two passengers suffered apparently minor injuries after their vehicle crashed into a Citizens Bank branch on Somerville Avenue at Massachusetts Avenue around 11:10 p.m. on Friday, Cambridge Police report. Read more.

NBC Boston reports state officials and the contractor still have no idea when work can resume. Work to replace the old bridge came to a halt last fall after the discovery of bad welds in the foundations of what was supposed to be a state-of-the-art swoopy 21st-century span.

State Police report a Waltham man lost control of his Harley-Davidson inbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Allston, hit the median barrier and died around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Mark Ganong, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police say.

Ari Ofsevit spotted a car on the B Line tracks and the driver who put it there, on Commonwealth Avenue outbound, just past Chestnut Hill Avenue, tonight.

MassDOT announced this afternoon that planned construction work in the Sumner Tunnel this weekend has been called off "to minimize any additional travel impacts created by the suspension of regular MBTA Orange and Green Line service in the area of Haymarket Station. "

Don't worry, MassDOT says: "While the Sumner Tunnel is in need of repairs, it remains safe for traffic to use."
