West Roxbury-based Pizzeria Uno is suing the owners of five of its franchises in Puerto Rico (yes, you can fly all the way to Puerto Rico and eat the same pizza you'd normally eat in Dedham) on charges they stopped paying franchise and advertising fees last year.

In October, 1921, Leslie Jones traveled down to West Roxbury to witness the end of an era: The replacement of the horses that had long pulled Engine 30's fire apparatus with one of those newfangled motorized vehicles.

The Boston Fire Department reports an elderly man drove his car into a mechanical room at the VA hospital on VFW Parkway around 12:25 p.m. The man was taken out and brought to the hospital emergency room, where doctors found no serious injuries.

Centre Street near the Roche Center gets all the attention as a restaurant row, but the past couple of years have seen the rise of an interesting cluster of take-out restaurants along Washington Street between Grove and Birchwood streets.

Alex Jones surveyed the damage at the Pu-Pu Restaurant on Centre Street at Landseer this morning.
The Boston Licensing Board next week hears a request by the owner of Cristelle's, 5268 Washington St., to sell the restaurant and its beer and wine license to Fadi Metri for a Middle Eastern restaurant called Fairouz.
Along with the sale, Metri will seek permission to expand the alcohol license to include liqueurs.
