Paul Griffin, 48, was arraigned today in Roxbury District Court on OUI as a fourth offense, paying for sexual conduct, operating with a license suspended for OUI, operating without insurance and a license plate violation. He was released on his own recognizance, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Griffin was conviced of OUI in 1990 and 1995. His first OUI conviction, in 1984, was continued without a finding, the DA's office says, adding his license was suspended after a drunk-driving arrest in New Hampshire in 2012.

Palladino

Steven Palladino, federal prosecutors charge, wasn't about to let an SEC lawsuit or state criminal charges for running a massive Ponzi scheme stop him from enjoying meals at fancy restaurants, tooling around town in one of three luxury vehicles or picking up new clothes at Barney's and some coins at a collectibles shop.

Looks like the former Parlour Pizza is getting divided into two separate places: A new pizza place called Mangia Neopolitan Pizza and a froyo place called Yogoteria.

The Boston Licensing Board considers a food-serving license for both at 1727 Centre St. at a hearing next week. If approved, West Roxburyans with a yen for froyo won't have to make the trek to the new froyo place opening in Roslindale Square.

Both Mangia and Yogoteria would be open until midnight if the board grants its OK.

Armstrong building

Residents would rather keep fire trap than see 62 apartments here.

A developer who wants to tear down the old Armstrong pharmaceutical factory and replace it with apartments agreed tonight to try to reduce the number of units, maybe make them condos instead of apartments and add more parking - after listening to angry residents tear into the project for more than an hour.

Michael Argiros from Charles River Realty promised to come back before residents with a smaller proposal before seeking formal approval from the West Roxbury Neighborhood Council, the BRA and the zoning board.

Sometime last week, a Suffolk County prosecutor says, Mark Regan died in his bed at 105 Perham St. when his son, also named Mark Regan, fired several shots into him.

The younger Regan, 33, was ordered held without bail today at his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court.

Bad parking in West Roxbury

A concerned citizen complains about the parking habits seen on Centre Street in West Roxbury at lunchtime today:

Left car in traffic - in front of a fire hydrant, walked down to post office. 7292 MR Lexus.

So, that would be: Parking in front of a hydrant, parking too far from the curb and obstructing traffic. It's the West Roxbury trifecta!

The Boston Bibliophile reports Seek Books on Centre Street is shutting down:

I've just about fallen in love with Asimov, the beautiful white bookstore cat, and Jeff and I have made afternoons of visiting West Roxbury- lunch, stops at other shops along Centre Street, a cupcake at Sugar Bakery- every now and then. We found a lot of treasures at Seek, which specializes in classic SF and collectibles and has always had an impressive selection for the small size of the store. We bought some things yesterday and we are going to try to stop by before it closes for good. If you're in the Boston area, do him a solid and help take some inventory off his hands before he departs for New Mexico.

Pazzo Books, at the other end of Centre, announced in January it was shutting down as well, which will leave West Roxbury with only the book section at the Hallmark store.

Ghassan Samaha, owner of Al Wadi on VFW Parkway in West Roxbury, explained to the Boston Licensing Board today why he wants to begin offering hard liquor along with the beer and wine he's already licensed to offer: His restaurant has a lot of Italian, Irish and Russian patrons, and when they hear the hardest stuff they can get is wine, they'd rather drink water.

He added Al Wadi is the only full-service restaurant along the parkway, from West Roxbury to Legacy Place, that doesn't have a full-service liquor license.

The board decides tomorrow whether to extend Al Wadi's license.
