Francine is actually cheering the higher costs (even as she gets ready to lower her winter thermostat settings) because they are beginning to force a national reevaluation of alternative forms of transportation:

$2.859 at the Hess station on Centre Street. One almost interesting fact: The Hess station used to have the lowest prices in the area. Now, though, it's at least 10 cents more per gallon than the gas stations on Washington Street in Roslindale.

Tim reports a $1 difference in gas prices between a couple of stations a few blocks apart in Malden:

... On the corner of Eastern Avenue and Maplewood Street, a no-name gas station was selling gas for $2.49, and nine-tenths. That was about 60 cents cheaper than a Mobil on Eastern Avenue. I was surprised. That was until I was driving down Salem Street a few blocks away when I saw gas for $3.49 a gallon. ...

NOTE: That was yesterday, so no doubt the prices have already gone up.

Ryan is shocked to see prices at a Mass. Turnpike rest stop 45 cents lower than at his regular off-Pike gas station:

Last week, back when gas prices were an oh-so-low $2.50 a gallon, Halley experimented with trying to live without a car. She describes the experiment:

Yes, I can come up with pretentious names with the best of them! I'm going to try an experiment: Chronicle the changing gas prices in the Boston area.

Every day (more or less), I'll post a photo of the day's prices at the Hess Station on Centre Street in West Roxbury (they tend to have some of the lowest prices around; more important, it's only a couple blocks out of my way to/from work). So here are today's prices. Will they go up tomorrow?
