The Waller family, which owns and is renovating the Graves Light lighthouse, reports this morning:

Lots of trash floating past Graves Ledge. Most, like cans and wrappers, look like they were dumped by thoughtless boaters.

A Floridian who spent some time in Boston in the 1980s discovered one of her ancestors was a coal shoveler on a Confederate steamer who was captured and sent to Fort Warren on Georges Island, where he died. A regular yacht became a land yacht today when it wound up on a sand bar that was probably marked on a chart or something and which became painfully obvious at low tide, as Paul Nutting Jr. shows us. He reports the location as:

An area called the Narrows between Lovells and the Brewsters, close to Boston Light.
