State Rep. Carlos Henriquez of Roxbury wore a hoodie to work at the State House today. His office reports he wore it onto the floor of the House of Representatives, although he put the hood down.

Channel 5 reports on an incident in which state Rep. Carlos Henriquez, D-Roxbury, and two friends found themselves surrounded by seven cops because the car they were in was missing a front license plate. The story is based on Henriquez's Twitter feed, on which he posted the following yesterday:

Marie St. Fleur won't seek re-election

Marie St. Fleur told the Ward 15 caucus this morning that she won't run for re-election this fall, the Dorchester Reporter reports.

Carlos Henriquez, who has made two unsuccessful runs against Chuck Turner, could run, Gintautus Dumcius tweets.

St. Fleur represents the 5th Suffolk district in Dorchester and Roxbury. Willie Mae Allen, who represents the neighboring 6th Suffolk, also recently announced she will retire from the House this year.

The incumbent Roxbury city councilor spent Tuesday roaming his district with four security guards, one packing heat, opponent Carlos Henriquez charges:

I'm concerned that the councilor feels the need for security to travel the district which he represents on election day. Every night teens and mothers in my neighborhood travel alone. Some with their children to bus stops with no sense of security. I wonder how they feel. ... We are working to teach young men in the community that they don't need to have guns or travel with a gang for safety. But if the sitting City Councilor feels he needs someone with a gun with him to travel Roxbury, Dorchester and the South End, then what is he saying about the community he represents.

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports that former state Sen. Jarrett "Fluff" Barrios recently moved to JP, where he is busy co-chairing Felix Arroyo the Younger's bid for an at-large city council seat in next year's elections.

The Gazette also reports that Carlos Henriquez is looking at running again for Chuck Turner's district seat, which just today might have become a bit easier to do.
