WFXT reports Boston and State Police responded to the residential area around Dartmouth Street early Sunday morning on reports of upwards of 15 drivers engaged in "drag racing and doing burnouts," many laying rubber the wrong way in the normally quiet area. Read more.

A woman told she couldn't bring a bottle of beer with her at closing time at Barney's Grill, 299 Havre St. in East Boston, reacted by hurling the bottle at the bartender, hitting her in the chest, the bartender and police told the Boston Licensing Board today. Read more.

Two working payphones

Right in front of the Eastern Bank/garage on Dartmouth Street at Stuart Street is this large ad thinge that has two payphones built in. And at least as of yesterday, both generated dial tones when you picked up the receivers.

Transit Police report a guy taking up "too many seats" on an Orange Line train refused to yield any of the seats, which another guy tried to solve by whipping out a box cutter as the train pulled into Back Bay and slicing him twice in the chest around 3:30 p.m. Read more.

The BPDA board this afternoon will vote on spending $100,000 for a consultant to recommend ways to turn Dartmouth Street between the BPL main library and the Copley Square park into a permanent mall for pedestrians and bicyclists - with space set aside for a lane for emergency vehicles. Read more.

Boston Police report a Lynn man initially arrested on a probation violation will be charged with attacks on three women in separate incidents near Back Bay station on Saturday afternoon.

Wetnsy Louicius, 22, will be charged with robbery and aggravated assault and battery, police say.

Old abandoned news box

A concerned citizen files a 311 complaint about old news boxes on Dartmouth Street outside Back Bay station.

This gets filled up with trash and looks like trash. I think there are at least two of them outside Back Bay station. Would be great to throw out and would be very simple.

Mayor Wu today announced plans to turn Dartmouth Street in front of the Copley library into a pedestrian area between June 7 and June 17th - in a pilot that could lead to the block being shut to traffic permanently - and to re-create the Newbury Street open-streets pedestrian program on long stretches of Centre Street in Jamaica Plain one day in July, Blue Hill Avenue in Grove Hall in August and Dorchester Avenue in September. The FBI has released photos of a 40-something white man wanted for holding up the Eastern Bank branch at the corner of Dartmouth and Stuart streets in the Back Bay around 2:20 p.m. on April 9. Read more.

Update: The Globe reports the victim was WCVB reporter Ted Wayman, while working on a story.

Boston Police report arresting a local man on charges he used a pair of scissors to stab another man in the forearm in an attack that ended when the victim managed to shut the door of his van, at Boylston and Dartmouth streets around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday. Read more.

Destruction inside Clarendon Wine

Inside Clarendon Wine on Boylston Street yesterday.

Looters who smashed into places like Marshalls and Walgreens Sunday night were not particularly discriminating - they also destroyed small mom-and-pop businesses across downtown, the Back Bay and the South End. Read more.

Dartmouth Street with horses and dirt

Greta Gerwig is filming part of her version of "Little Women" on Dartmouth Street in the Back Bay, and that means covering the asphalt with dirt to recreate 19th-century scenes featuring horses and carriages, as Pilotblock observed this morning.

A Suffolk Superior Court today sentenced Benjamin Josey, 59, to three to five years in state prison after a jury convicted him of armed robbery, assault and battery on a disabled person and stealing by confinement for an incident on Dartmouth Street on Aug. 24, 2017. Read more.
